Imprisoned in Iran because Christian, “I thank God!”, His testimony

On July 27 last Hamed Ashouri, 31, presented himself to the central prison in dearin Iran. Convicted of "propaganda against the Islamic Republic", he should remain in prison for a period of 10 months. But the young man's faith remains unshakable.

Before going to prison, Hamid recorded a short video, in which he explained the real reason for his sentence: he was jailed for his commitment as a follower of Christ and not as an enemy of his country.

Hamed was arrested by agents of the Ministry of Intelligence. It happened two and a half years ago, when he was leaving his home in Fardis on the morning of February 23, 2019.

That day, agents from the Ministry of Intelligence broke into his home and confiscated all Christian documents in his possession: Bibles and other theological works. His hard drives also seized.

Taken to prison in Karaj, held in solitary confinement for 10 days, Hamed was interrogated and subjected to hateful proposals: if he had "collaborated" by becoming an informer at the expense of other Christians, he would have been released and would have been entitled to a large monthly salary. But he refused and was beaten by his captors.

Hamed was released on bail. Later, however, along with another family member, he was forced to participate in "re-education" sessions with an Islamic cleric. After 4 sessions, Hamed refused to continue the experiment. It was then that the judicial process began.

The investigation was delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic. But Hamed was sentenced in April 2021 by the Karaj Revolutionary Court. He appealed on June 26, in vain: once again sentenced, he was called to serve his prison sentence.

Before being imprisoned, Hamed said: "I thank God for deeming me worthy to endure this persecution for his sake."

Like many Iranian Christians, Hamed is ready to lose everything. Except faith in his Lord and Savior.
