Unwavering devotion to Jesus Christ: why love him!

Conversion to the Lord it begins with an unshakable devotion to God, after which that devotion becomes an important part of our life. The strong affirmation of such devotion is a lifelong process in our life that requires patience and continual repentance. Eventually, that devotion becomes an important part of our life, incorporated into our self-awareness, into our lives forever. Just as we never forget our name, whatever we think, we never forget the devotion that is in our hearts.

God it invites us to throw our old ways completely out of reach, to start a new life in Christ. This happens when we develop faith, which begins with hearing the testimony of those who have faith. Faith deepens as we act in ways that are more firmly rooted in Him.

The only way for a person to grow in faith is to act in faith. These actions are often prompted by invitations from others, but we cannot “increase” another's faith or rely entirely on others to advance our own. To increase our faith, we must choose activities such as praying, studying the scriptures, tasting the sacraments, and keeping the commandments.

As our faith in Jesus Christ grows, God invites us to make promises to him. These covenants, as promises are called, are manifestations of our conversion. Alliances also provide a solid foundation for careful progress. When we choose to be baptized, we begin to take upon ourselves the name of Jesus Christ and choose to identify with him. We swear to become like him.

Covenants anchor us to the Savior, propelling us forward on the path to our heavenly home. The power of the covenant helps us to maintain a mighty change of heart, to deepen our conversion to the Lord, to fully receive the image of Christ on our faces. Our commitment to keep covenants should not be conditioned or different from the changing circumstances of our life. Our steadfastness in God must be reliable.
