The harsh response of a priest to a singer who insulted the Virgin Mary

Father José María Pérez Chaves, a priest of the military archbishopric of Spain, sent a harsh message to the singer Zahara via Twitter after the artist insulted the Virgin Mary in a poster to promote his next show.

Maria Zahara Gordillo Campos, known as “Zahara”, is a 38-year-old Spanish singer. He recently released an album which he titled “hooker".

When the singer's presence at the Toledo Alive Festival to be held in September was announced, a poster showed Zahara mocking and insulting the Virgin Mary.

The image shows the singer with a baby in her arms wearing a cloth headband with the words 'Puta' (which does not need translation).

Faced with this, Father José María wrote: “I am sorry for Zahara, because she needs the scandal to hide her lack of talent; she was seduced by the lights of this world ”.

And he continues: “But the applause of men is fleeting and treacherous, and the same men who acclaim it today will forget it and despise it tomorrow. May God forgive you ”.

“The devil knows who has to try and how he hurts himself: he works with her like this because he knows that it will have media repercussions; he will do it with me in another way to mislead my flock. For this God forgive you ”, added the priest.

Meanwhile, the archbishop of Toledo, Monsignor Francisco Cerro, expressed all his disapproval in a press release: “It is never tolerable that under the protection of a false freedom of expression, mocking our sacred realities, the religious sentiments of thousands of citizens are seriously injured. All the images of the Virgin Mary are always, for Catholics, beloved icons that remind us of the protection of our heavenly Mother, to whom we always profess affection and devotion ”.
