The Great promise for anyone who practices this Novena

NOVENA OF GRACE TO SAN FRANCESCO SAVERIO

This novena originated in Naples in 1633, when a young Jesuit, father Marcello Mastrilli, was dying following an accident. The young priest vowed to St. Francis Xavier who, if he was cured, would have left for the East as a missionary. The next day, St. Francis Xavier appeared to him, reminded him of the vow to leave as a missionary and healed him instantly. He also added that "those who had fervently requested his intercession with God for nine days in honor of his canonization (therefore from March 4 to 12, the day of his canonization), would certainly experience the effects of his great power in the skies and would receive any grace that had contributed to their salvation ”. Healed Father Mastrilli left for Japan as a missionary, where he later faced martyrdom. Meanwhile, the devotion of this novena spread widely and, because of the numerous graces and extraordinary favors received through the intercession of St. Francis Xavier, it became known as "Novena of Grace". Saint Teresa of Lisieux also made this novena a few months before dying and said: “I asked for the grace to do good after my death, and now I am sure I have been fulfilled, because by means of this novena we get all this you want. "

O most beloved St. Francis Xavier, with you I adore God our Lord, thanking him for the great gifts of grace that he granted you during your life, and for the glory with which he crowned you in Heaven.

I beg you with all my heart to intercede for me with the Lord, so that first of all he will give me the grace to live and die holy, and grant me the particular grace ……. that I need right now, as long as it is according to His will and greater glory. Amen.

- Our Father - Ave Maria - Gloria.

- Pray for us, St. Francis Xavier.

- And we'll be worthy of Christ's promises.

Let us pray: O God, who with the apostolic preaching of St. Francis Xavier have called many peoples of the East in the light of the Gospel, ensure that every Christian has his missionary fervor, so that the Holy Church may rejoice over the whole earth sons. For Christ our Lord. Amen.

SAINT FRANCIS XAVERIUS

Xavier, Spain, 1506 - Sancian Island, China, December 3, 1552

Student in Paris, he met Saint Ignatius of Loyola and was part of the foundation of the Society of Jesus. He is the greatest missionary of the modern era. He brought the Gospel into contact with the great oriental cultures, adapting it with a wise apostolic sense to the dispositions of the various populations. In his missionary journeys he touched India, Japan, and died while he was preparing to spread the message of Christ in the immense Chinese continent. (Roman Missal)

PRAYER
O great apostle of the Indies, St. Francis Xavier,

at whose admirable zeal for the health of souls they seemed

narrow the boundaries of the earth: you, who are burning with ardent charity

towards God, you were forced to pray to the Lord to moderate it

ardor, that you owed so many fruits of the apostolate to your total detachment

from every earthly thing, and to the enlightened abandonment of yourself

in the hands of Providence; deh! impetrate to me also those virtues,

who shone so eminent in you, and make me too,

in what way the Lord will, an apostle.

Pater, Ave, Glory
