Our Lady in Medjugorje tells you how to react when you are in sin

Message dated December 18, 1983
When you commit a sin, your consciousness darkens. Then the fear of God and of me takes over. And the longer you stay in sin, the bigger it becomes and the fear grows within you. And so you move further and further away from me and God. Instead, it is enough to repent from the bottom of your heart to have offended God and decide not to repeat the same sin in the future, and you have already obtained the grace of reconciliation with God.
Some passages from the Bible that can help us understand this message.
Gn 3,1-13
The snake was the most cunning of all the wild beasts made by the Lord God. He said to the woman: "Is it true that God said: You must not eat of any tree in the garden?". The woman replied to the snake: "Of the fruits of the trees in the garden we can eat, but of the fruit of the tree that stands in the middle of the garden God said: You must not eat and touch it, otherwise you will die." But the snake said to the woman: “You will not die at all! Indeed, God knows that when you eat them, your eyes would open and you would become like God, knowing the good and the bad ". Then the woman saw that the tree was good to eat, pleasing to the eye and desirable to acquire wisdom; she took some fruit and ate it, then also gave it to her husband, who was with her, and he also ate it. Then both of them opened their eyes and realized they were naked; they braided fig leaves and made themselves belts. Then they heard the Lord God walking in the garden in the breeze of the day and the man and his wife hid from the Lord God in the middle of the trees in the garden. But the Lord God called the man and said to him, "Where are you?". He replied: "I heard your step in the garden: I was afraid, because I am naked, and I hid myself." He went on: “Who let you know you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat? ". The man replied: "The woman you placed beside me gave me a tree and I ate it." The Lord God said to the woman, "What have you done?". The woman replied: "The snake has deceived me and I have eaten."

Sirach 34,13-17
The spirit of those who fear the Lord will live, because their hope is placed in the one who saves them. Whoever fears the Lord is not afraid of anything, and does not fear because he is his hope. Blessed is the soul of those who fear the Lord; who do you rely on? Who is your support? The eyes of the Lord are on those who love him, powerful protection and strength support, shelter from the fiery wind and shelter from the meridian sun, defense against obstacles, rescue in the fall; lifts the soul and brightens the eyes, grants health, life and blessing.
Psalm 26
By Davide
. The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom will I be afraid of? The Lord is the defense of my life, whom will I be afraid of? When the wicked assail me to tear my flesh away, it is they, adversaries and enemies, who stumble and fall. If an army encamps against me, my heart is not afraid; if the battle is raging against me, even then I have faith. I asked the Lord for one thing, I seek this alone: to live in the house of the Lord every day of my life, to taste the sweetness of the Lord and admire his sanctuary. He offers me a place of refuge on the day of misfortune. He hides me in the secret of his home, lifts me up on the cliff. And now I raise my head to the enemies around me; I will sacrifice exultation sacrifices in his house, hymns of joy I will sing to the Lord. Listen, Lord, to my voice. I cry: have mercy on me! Answer me. My heart has said of you: "Seek his face"; your face, Lord, I seek. Do not hide your face from me, do not anger your servant. You are my help, do not leave me, do not abandon me, God of my salvation. My father and mother abandoned me, but the Lord collected me. Lord, show me your way, guide me on the right path, because of my enemies. Do not expose myself to the desire of my adversaries; False witnesses have arisen against me that breathe violence. I am sure I contemplate the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Hope in the Lord, be strong, refresh your heart and hope in the Lord.
