Hello Regina

------------

In its liturgical year, the Catholic Church does not have a specific feast for Our Lady of Grace: this title is associated with various Marian feasts based on local customs and the history of individual shrines.

Many places associate this title with the traditional date of the feast of the Visitation of Mary to Elizabeth, on July 2nd or on the last day of May. In ancient times the feast took place on Monday in Albis, then it was moved to 2 July, and still today on this last date it continues to be celebrated in most of the places where the Madonna delle Grazie is venerated. Elsewhere the holiday occurs on August 26, May 9 (Sassari) or, with a mobile date, on the third Sunday after Pentecost.

In some places the title of Madonna delle Grazie is associated with the feast of the Nativity of Mary on 8 September; so it is in Udine and Pordenone.

The name day is celebrated on July 2 and is celebrated by people who bear the name of: Grazia, Graziella, Maria Grazia, Grazia Maria, Graziana and Graziano (but there is also San Graziano di Tours, 18 December), and Horace.

The title "Madonna delle Grazie" must be understood in two aspects:

Mary Most Holy is the one who brings grace par excellence, that is, her son Jesus, therefore she is the "Mother of Divine Grace";
Mary is the Queen of all Graces, she is the one who, by interceding for us with God ("Our Advocate" [1]), causes him to grant us any grace: in Catholic theology it is believed that nothing God denies to the Blessed Virgin.
Especially the second aspect is the one that has breached popular devotion: Mary appears as a loving mother who obtains all that men need for eternal salvation. This title comes from the biblical episode known as "Wedding at Cana": it is Mary who pushes Jesus to perform the miracle, and spurs the servants saying to them: "do what He will tell you".

Over the centuries, many saints and poets have recalled the powerful work of intercession that Mary works between man and God. Just think of:

San Bernardo, who in his Memorare says "it has never been heard that someone has resorted to you and has been abandoned".
Dante in the XXXIII Canto del Paradiso s: Divine Comedy / Paradiso / Canto XXXIII puts in the mouth of San Bernardo a prayer to the Virgin who later became famous:
Icon MariaSantissima.jpg
"Woman, if you are so big and so good,
who wants grace and does not apply to you,
his disianza wants to fly up.
Your kindness does not help
to those who ask, but many fïate
he freely pre-orders. "
