Our Lady of Medjugorje teaches you to pray to God to ask for forgiveness

Message dated January 14, 1985
God the Father is infinite goodness, is mercy and always gives forgiveness to those who ask him from the heart. Pray to him often with these words: “My God, I know that my sins against your love are great and numerous, but I hope you will forgive me. I am ready to forgive everyone, my friend and my enemy. O Father, I hope in you and wish to live always in the hope of your forgiveness ”.
Some passages from the Bible that can help us understand this message.
Gn 3,1-13
The snake was the most cunning of all the wild beasts made by the Lord God. He said to the woman: "Is it true that God said: You must not eat of any tree in the garden?". The woman replied to the snake: "Of the fruits of the trees in the garden we can eat, but of the fruit of the tree that stands in the middle of the garden God said: You must not eat and touch it, otherwise you will die." But the snake said to the woman: “You will not die at all! Indeed, God knows that when you eat them, your eyes would open and you would become like God, knowing the good and the bad ". Then the woman saw that the tree was good to eat, pleasing to the eye and desirable to acquire wisdom; she took some fruit and ate it, then also gave it to her husband, who was with her, and he also ate it. Then both of them opened their eyes and realized they were naked; they braided fig leaves and made themselves belts. Then they heard the Lord God walking in the garden in the breeze of the day and the man and his wife hid from the Lord God in the middle of the trees in the garden. But the Lord God called the man and said to him, "Where are you?". He replied: "I heard your step in the garden: I was afraid, because I am naked, and I hid myself." He went on: “Who let you know you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat? ". The man replied: "The woman you placed beside me gave me a tree and I ate it." The Lord God said to the woman, "What have you done?". The woman replied: "The snake has deceived me and I have eaten."
Sirach 5,1-9
Do not trust your wealth and do not say: "This is enough for me". Do not follow your instincts and your strength, following the passions of your heart. Do not say: "Who will dominate me?", Because the Lord will no doubt do justice. Don't say, "I sinned, and what happened to me?" Because the Lord is patient. Don't be too sure of forgiveness enough to add sin to sin. Do not say: “His mercy is great; he will forgive me many sins ", because there is mercy and anger with him, his indignation will be poured out on sinners. Do not wait to convert to the Lord and do not put off from day to day, since the wrath of the Lord and time will break out suddenly of the punishment you will be annihilated. Do not trust in unjust wealth, because they will not help you on the day of misfortune. Do not ventilate the wheat in any wind and do not walk on any path.
Mt 18,18-22
Truly, I say to you, everything you bind above the earth will also be bound in heaven and everything you untie above the earth will also be dissolved in heaven. In truth I tell you again: if two of you agree on earth to ask anything, my Father in heaven will grant it to you. Because where there are two or three gathered in my name, I am among them ". Then Peter came up to him and said, “Lord, how many times will I have to forgive my brother if he sins against me? Up to seven times? ". And Jesus replied: “I don't tell you up to seven, but up to seventy times seven
