Our Lady indicated a woman how she should dress

The words with which the glorious Virgin Mary taught Santa Brigida how to dress

«I am Mary, who generated the true God and true man, the Son of God. I am the Queen of angels. My Son loves you with all your heart, and for this you reciprocate him. You have to dress in honest clothes, so I'll show you what they are and how they should be. First you were given a shirt, then you received a tunic, shoes, a cloak and a collar for your chest; in the same spiritual way you must have the shirt of contrition: just as the shirt is more in contact with the flesh, in the same way contrition and confession are the first way to go towards God, the way through which the soul who rejoiced in sin is purified and the flesh coated. Shoes are the two affects, namely: the will to make amends for the faults committed, and the will to do good and abstain from evil. Your tunic is the hope with which you aspire to God: in fact, just as the tunic has two sleeves, in the same way justice and mercy are contained in your hope, so that you can hope in God so as not to neglect his justice. He also thinks of his justice and his judgment to the point of not forgetting his mercy, because there is no justice without mercy, nor mercy without justice. The cloak is faith: in fact, just as the cloak covers everything, in the same way man, through faith, can understand and achieve everything. This cloak must be littered with the signs of your dear spouse's love: how he created you, redeemed you, fed you and introduced you into his spirit, and opened the eyes of the spirit. The collar is the thought of the Passion, which must be constantly on your chest: the way in which my Son was scorned, scourged and covered in blood; the way in which he was stretched on the cross with his nerves gone, and in which his whole body trembled in death because of the immense pain he felt; and the way he put his spirit back into the hands of the Father. May this collar always hang on your chest. May his crown be on your head; in other words, he deeply loves chastity; therefore be demure and honest; do not think of anything, desire nothing but your God, your Creator: when you have him, you will have everything; and thus adorned and adorned you will await the arrival of your dear Bridegroom ».
