The mother said no to abortion, Bocelli dedicated a song to her (VIDEO)

On 8 May, on the occasion of Mother's Day, the award-winning Andrea Bocelli shared a touching musical tribute to her mother Edi, who turned down doctors' advice to have an abortion when they found out he could have been born with a disability.

Bocelli shared the video of his cover of the song "Mom", popular song from 1940 and included in Bocelli's 2008 album “Incanto”.

Bocelli was born in 1958 a lajaticoin Tuscany

The future world-famous musician and opera singer had vision problems since childhood and was diagnosed with a congenital glaucoma, a condition that affects the development of the angle of the eye. Bocelli went completely blind at the age of 12 after an accident during a football match.

Bocelli wrote: “She who, by divine grace, lives the generous mystery of birth, the sacred plan of giving shape and consciousness to clay”.

In 2010 Bocelli released several inspirational videos in which he recounted his mother's courageous challenge, praising her for making the "right choice" and saying that other mothers should find encouragement from her story.

The singer told the story of this pregnant young wife, hospitalized for what doctors believed she was appendicitis.

“The doctors applied some ice to her stomach and when the treatments ended the doctors suggested that she abort the baby. They told her it was the best solution because the baby would be born with some disability "

“But the brave young wife decided not to have an abortion and the baby was born. That woman was my mother and I was the baby. Maybe I'm biased but I can say it was the right choice ”.
