The powerful prayer that St. Paul the Apostle raised to God

I do not stop praying for you, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, will give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of HIM ... I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you may understand the confident hope that he gave to those he called: his holy people, which is his rich and glorious heritage. I also pray that you understand the incredible greatness of God's power for us who believe Him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and made Him sit in the place of honor at the right hand of God in the heavenly realms. He is now far above any ruler, authority, power, leader or whatever, not only in this world but also in the world to come. God has placed all things under the authority of Christ and has placed Him at the head of all things for the benefit of the church. And the church is his body. It is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with himself. Ephesians 1:16 -23

Glorious Prayer: What a glorious prayer Paul prayed for believers in Ephesians - and for us too. He had heard of their trust in Christ and wanted them to know their position in Him. He specifically prayed that God would give them the revelation of who they are in the Lord. He prayed that the eyes of their hearts would be flooded with celestial illumination. He longed for God to open to them the understanding of the riches of His grace towards them. Precious privilege: but the wonderful thing is that this heavy prayer of Paul is for all the children of God. Paul's desire was that all believers would discover the precious privilege they have in Him, and over the centuries men and women have become rejoice in his words - and his prayer for revelation is for you and me, and for the whole body of Christ. Blessed Hope: What a joy to Paul that these Ephesian believers had such love for their Lord, and how much he wished they would fully appreciate the blessed hope they have in Christ. It must have made Paul's heart rejoice to see the genuine love they had for one another ... just as the Father rejoices when He sees His children trusting in His word - just as the heart of the Lord rejoices when the members of His body abide in unity. Spiritual Freedom: Paul prayed that the church would receive spiritual wisdom and divine insight. He wanted all believers to be able to remain confident in the hope of their calling. He did not want them to be tossed here and there by every wind of doctrine - but to know the truth of their union with Christ - because that truth will set us free.

Spiritual Insight: How he prayed for an increase in their knowledge and understanding of Jesus - an understanding of the incredible magnitude of God's power for us who believe. How he prayed for our spiritual insight: divine growth and development of discernment. Oh, Paul knew the more we know Christ personally - the more we love Him .. and the more we love Him the deeper our love becomes - and we know Him better - and then we begin to understand the abundant riches of God's grace towards us. The abundant riches of His grace to us are eternally immeasurable. Spiritual Understanding: Paul not only prayed for revelation and understanding, but also for enlightenment and enlightenment. Paul not only prayed that we understand our position in Christ but our future hope. He prayed for the light, an outpouring of God's light flowing into our hearts. He prayed that this light would saturate our understanding of our blessed hope in Christ. He passionately prayed that the eyes of our hearts may be enlightened that you may know the glorious future hope to which we are all called, which is reserved for us in heaven, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints, His holy people. Spiritual inheritance: Paul also prayed that we might know who we are in Christ - to know our position in Him. permanent position which is as safe as the eternal Lord Jesus who put us there .. the union with Him that guarantees our adoption as children and our eternal inheritance - a union so intimate that we are part of His body - and He abides in our mortal structure. Spiritual Communion: A position so precious that we are so attached to Him as a bride with her husband - a position so stunning that we are granted the right to enter the heavens of the saints. a company so blessed that we can enter into communion with our Lord - and be one with Him - a communion so special that the blood of Jesus continues to cleanse us of all sin. Powerful power: Paul also prayed that we could understand the incredible greatness of God's power. He wanted us to know the mighty power of God that raised Christ from the dead. He wanted us to know that with the same power Christ ascended to heaven. and through that power, He is now seated in the place of honor at God's right hand. And this is the same powerful power working in us - through His Holy Spirit. Unlimited Magnitude: The unlimited magnitude of God's power works in all believers in Christ. The enormous magnitude of His power works to strengthen all who trust in Him. God's immeasurably fine strength is available to all of His children - and Paul prays that we know this wondrous power - that is working for us. Overcoming Grace: As surprising as these revelations to the church through Paul are, there is more! We are His body and He is the head, and Christ is the fullness of His body - the church. There are not enough superlative words to describe the riches of God's grace for us. It almost seems as though he is not taking a breath as he pours out God's amazing grace upon us. Paul simply wants to teach us to know and understand what these riches are - so that we can KNOW the extraordinary riches of God's grace towards us, his children.

I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, will give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of HIM - that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you may understand the confident hope that He has given to those he called: his holy people who are his rich and glorious heritage.
