Today's prayer, Thursday 2 September 2021

Today, Thursday 2 September, the prayer of the day is dedicated to work. Many of us, especially in Southern Italy, suffer because they either have an unstable and low-paid job or have none and do not know how to fill the refrigerator and ensure the subsistence of their families. This prayer is a way to ask God to help us find a job also to give dignity to our daily existence in the context of the great global building project of the Almighty.

Prayer for work

You rule your creation, O God,
to bring it to perfection with the work of our hands.

Hear the prayers of your people asking for work
which will enhance their human dignity
and promote the building of your kingdom.

Allow them to provide for those in their care
or for family ties or for charity that we owe to each other
for the improvement of human life.

We ask for this blessing in the name of Jesus
who worked with his own hands while living on earth.

Amen.
