The extraordinary story of a woman who fed on the Eucharist alone throughout her life

She fed on the Eucharist alone for 53 years. Marthe Robin was born on March 13, 1902 in Châteauneuf-de-Galaure (Drôme), France, to a peasant family, and spent her entire life at her parents' home, where she died on February 6, 1981.

Marthe's the whole existence of the mystic revolved around the Eucharist, which for her was "the only thing that heals, comforts, elevates, blesses, my All". In 1928, after a severe neurological illness, Marthe found it nearly impossible to move, especially to swallow because those muscles were affected.

In addition, due to an eye disease, she was forced to live in almost absolute darkness. According to her spiritual director, Father Don Finet: “When she received the stigmata at the beginning of October 1930, Marthe was already living with the pains of the Passion since 1925, the year in which she offered herself as a victim of love.

On that day, Jesus said she was chosen, like the Virgin, to live the Passion more intensely. No one else would experience it so fully. Each day he has endured more pain and does not sleep at night. After the stigmata, Marthe could neither drink nor eat. The ecstasy lasted until Monday or Tuesday. "

Marthe Robin accepted all sufferings for the sake of Jesus the Redeemer and the sinners she wanted to save. The great philosopher Jean Guitton, recalling his encounter with the seer, wrote: "I found myself in that dark room of his, facing the most famous contemporary critic of the Church: the novelist Anatole France (a critic whose books had been Vatican ) and Dr. Paul-Louis Couchoud, a disciple of Alfred Loisy (an excommunicated priest whose books were condemned by the Vatican) and author of a series of books that deny the historical reality of Jesus. From our first meeting, I understood that Marthe Robin would always be a 'sister of charity', as she was for thousands of visitors. “Indeed, beyond the extraordinary mystical phenomena.
