The 25 things that the Souls of Purgatory do

Those blessed Souls:

They adore the most august triad, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, they adore the incarnate Word the divine Redeemer, whose adorable wounds were inexhaustible sources of graces: they adore the divine decrees and the divine dispositions that they do not yet allow to enter Heaven.

They love their God with pure and ardent love: they love Heavenly Father with filial affection, they love the divine Bridegroom with love of sympathy and complacency, they love the true and most faithful Friend with sincere love of friendship. They still love with grateful love those who help and support them in their bitter pains.

ADMIRE the ineffable perfections and infinite attributes of God that are certain to enjoy eternally; they admire the stupendous intertwining of copious graces and the thousands of circumstances where God guided them to the port of eternal salvation.

They crave with the most burning desire to see God, to possess him, to enjoy him eternally and still yearn for us to go to their aid and accelerate their eternal bliss with our suffrages.

They sing the goodness and mercy of God who freed them from a thousand dangers and placed them in place of salvation.

They confess the very high justice of God, recognizing that the pains they suffer have earned far too much.

They HATE with all the horror and abomination not only the grave and mortal sin which, although absolved in the tribunal of penance even though it makes them moan in Purgatory, but also every slight guilt and defect that keeps them away from their highest desired Good.

WISH to own it.

ESPIANO With eager to see God, pure and selfless love every less righteous thought, every less pure desire, every less holy affection, every word not cautious and idle, every act not regulated by the holy law of God.

They continually fix their gaze on God, in his approval, in his glorious kingdom; their mind is turned only to God, their heart palpitates only to God.

TRUST In God alone, in the faithfulness of his word and promises, they trust in the omnipotence of the Father, in the wisdom of the Son and in the love of the Holy Spirit.

GEMONO for the excruciating pains they suffer, for the desire and loving anxieties to see Jesus soon, to contemplate and enjoy him forever.

They look and judge very differently from what they did on earth; they look at the crosses, poverty and tolerated contempt like a ladder by which God mercifully made them go up to heaven; they judge wealth, ingenuity, health, time, not as reasons for boasting and vainglory, but as talents to be trafficked, as coins to buy us the sky.

CALL FOR our pity, our suffrages, ask us for a drop that will cool the ardors of that fire that burns them. They call for help, who from their children, who from their parents, who from their friends, invoke your prayer that descends like an angel to free them from those flames.

They INTERCEDE for us and for our health, they are mediators between us and God to obtain benefits from him and graces in the spiritual and corporal order, we intercede thanks for victory over the passions; enlighten for the conversion of some and strength to persevere for others.

THEY PRAISE God, his admirable attributes, his amiable perfections, praise Him with all the impetus of the mind and heart, desiring to compensate him for the honor of which they defrauded him on earth with sin; they praise sovereign Mary their benefactor.

DISCERN! They meditate on the attributes of God, on his infinite love for souls, on the life of Jesus, on the atrocious sufferings he suffered for their love; they meditate on the land they left behind, the Purgatory where they suffer, the Paradise that awaits them.

NOBILITATE in those purgative flames, like gold in fire; and they embellish the image of God which they carry in themselves sculpted, and which God had created pure and immaculate, but which they stained with sin.

They offer with true love, with affectionate gratitude they offer God our prayers, our vows, they offer God the acts of our charity, they continually offer the homage of their whole being, and the pains they suffer to satisfy divine justice.

PRAY! What a model of humble, loving, trusting and continuous prayer comes to us from the holy school of Purgatory! The prayer of suffering souls moves the Heart of God and will certainly be answered.

REPAIR fouls committed in life, repair pride by accepting the humiliation of punishment, repair disobedience by perfectly conforming their will to that of God, repair infidelity to divine love, ardently loving.

REJOICE because they have avoided hell and are confirmed in grace, rejoiced because they undoubtedly know that they must enter Heaven to be eternally happy; they rejoiced because they will see as soon as possible the most lovely face of Jesus, and their most tender mother Mary.

They suffer immensely from the deprivation of the sight of God, they suffer from the powerlessness to hasten this most blissful moment; they suffer in the fire that surrounds them and purifies them and this one pain surpasses all the sufferings and all the pains of the world united together.

HUMILIATE themselves under the scourge of God who purifies them, under his father's hand, who in those purgative flames comes cleansing them of the spots contracted for sin.

They only want what God wants, because their will has become one with that of God.
