The prophecies of Blessed Anna Catherine Emmerich

“I also saw the relationship between the two popes ... I saw how bad the consequences of this false church would have been. I have seen her increase in size; heretics of all kinds came to the city [of Rome]. The local clergy became lukewarm, and I saw a great darkness ... Then the vision seemed to extend from all sides. Entire Catholic communities were oppressed, besieged, confined and deprived of their freedom. I saw many churches being closed, great suffering, wars and bloodshed everywhere. A savage and ignorant mob turned to violent actions. But all this did not last long. " (May 13, 1820)

“I saw once again that the Church of Peter was mined by a plan drawn up by the secret sect, while the storms were damaging it. But I also saw that help would come when the afflictions peaked. Again I saw the Blessed Virgin ascend on the Church and lay her mantle on it. I saw a Pope who was mild and at the same time very firm ... I saw a great renewal and the Church hovering high in the sky ".

“I saw a strange church that was being built against all the rules ... There were no angels to supervise the construction operations. In that church there was nothing that came from above ... There were only divisions and chaos. It is probably a church of human creation, which follows the latest fashion, as well as the new heterodox church of Rome, which seems of the same type ... ". (September 12, 1820)

“I saw again the strange big church that was being built there [in Rome]. There was nothing holy in it. I saw this just as I saw a movement led by clergymen to which angels, saints and other Christians contributed. But there [in the strange church] all the work was done mechanically. Everything was done according to human reason ... I saw all kinds of people, things, doctrines and opinions.

There was something proud, presumptuous and violent about it, and they seemed to be very successful. I didn't see a single angel or saint helping with the work. But in the background, in the distance, I saw the seat of a cruel people armed with spears, and I saw a laughing figure, who said: “Build it as solid as you can; so much we will throw it to the ground "". (September 12, 1820)

“I had a vision of the holy Emperor Henry. I saw him alone at night, kneeling at the foot of the main altar in a large and beautiful church ... and I saw the Blessed Virgin come down alone. She spread a red cloth covered with white linen on the altar, placed a book inlaid with precious stones and lit the candles and the perpetual lamp ...

Then came the Savior himself dressed in the priestly habit ...

Mass was short. The Gospel of Saint John was not read at the end [1]. When the Mass was finished, Maria went to Enrico and stretched out his right hand towards him saying that this was in recognition of his purity. Then he urged him not to hesitate. After that I saw an angel, it touched the tendon of his hip, like Jacob. Enrico felt great pain, and from that day he walked with a limp ... [2] “. (July 12, 1820)

“I see other martyrs, not now but in the future ... I saw the secret sects ruthlessly undermining the great Church. Close to them I saw a horrible beast that came up from the sea ... All over the world good and devoted people, and especially the clergy, were harassed, oppressed and put in prison. I had the feeling that they would become martyrs one day.

When the Church for the most part had been destroyed and when only the shrines and altars were still standing, I saw the devastators with the Beast enter the Church. There they met a woman of noble demeanor who seemed to carry a child in her womb, because she walked slowly. At this sight the enemies were terrified and the Beast could not take even another step forward. She projected her neck towards the Woman as if to devour her, but the Woman turned and prostrated herself [as a sign of submission to God; Editor's note], with his head touching the ground.

Then I saw the Beast fleeing back to the sea, and the enemies were running away in the greatest confusion ... Then I saw, in the great distance, great legions approaching. In front of everyone I saw a man on a white horse. The prisoners were released and joined them. All the enemies were chased. Then, I saw that the Church was promptly rebuilt, and it was more magnificent than before. " (August-October 1820)

“I see the Holy Father in great anguish. He lives in a different building from the one before and admits only a limited number of friends close to him. I fear that the Holy Father will suffer many other trials before he dies. I see that the false church of darkness is making progress, and I see the tremendous influence it has on people. The Holy Father and the Church are truly in such a great affliction that God should be implored day and night. " (August 10, 1820)

“Last night I was taken to Rome where the Holy Father, immersed in his pain, is still hidden to avoid dangerous tasks. He is very weak and exhausted from pains, worries and prayers. Now he can only trust a few people; it is mainly for this reason that it must hide. But he still has an elderly priest of great simplicity and devotion with him. He is his friend, and for his simplicity they did not think it was worth taking him out of the way.

But this man receives many graces from God. He sees and realizes many things which he faithfully reports to the Holy Father. I was asked to inform him, while he was praying, about the traitors and the iniquity workers who were part of the high hierarchies of the servants who lived next to him, so that he could notice it. "

"I don't know how I was brought to Rome last night, but I found myself near the church of Santa Maria Maggiore, and I saw so many poor people who were very afflicted and worried because the Pope was nowhere to be seen, and also because of restlessness and alarming rumors in the city.

People didn't seem to expect the church doors to open; they just wanted to pray outside. An inner push had led them there. But I was in the church and opened the doors. They entered, surprised and frightened because the doors had opened. It seemed to me that I was behind the door and that they could not see me. There was no office open in the church, but the Sanctuary lamps were on. People prayed quietly.

Then I saw an apparition of the Mother of God, who said the tribulation would be very great. He added that these people must pray fervently ... They must pray above all because the church of darkness will abandon Rome ". (August 25, 1820)

“I saw the Church of San Pietro: it had been destroyed except for the Sanctuary and the main altar [3]. St. Michael came down to the church, dressed in his armor, and paused, threatening with the sword a number of unworthy shepherds who wanted to enter. That part of the church that had been destroyed was promptly fenced off ... so that the divine office could be celebrated properly. Then, priests and lay people came from all over the world to rebuild the stone walls, since the destroyers had not been able to move the heavy foundation stones ". (September 10, 1820)

“I saw deplorable things: they were gambling, drinking and talking in church; they were also wooing women. All sorts of abominations were perpetrated there. The priests allowed everything and said Mass with much irreverence. I saw that few of them were still pious, and only few had a healthy view of things. I also saw Jews who were on the porch of the church. All these things gave me so much sadness. " (September 27, 1820)

“The Church is in great danger. We must pray that the Pope will not leave Rome; countless evils would result if he did. Now they are demanding something from him. Protestant doctrine and that of schismatic Greeks must spread everywhere. Now I see that in this place the Church is being mined so cleverly that there are barely a hundred priests who have not been deceived. All of them work on destruction, even the clergy. Great devastation is approaching ”. (October 1, 1820)

"When I saw the Church of St. Peter in ruins, and the way in which so many members of the clergy were themselves engaged in this work of destruction - none of them wished to do it openly in front of the others - I was so sorry that I called Jesus with all my strength, begging for His mercy. Then I saw the Heavenly Bridegroom before me and He spoke to me for a long time ...

He said, among other things, that this transfer of the Church from one place to another meant that it would appear to be in complete decline. But she would be resurrected. Even if only one Catholic remains, the Church would win again because it is not based on human advice and intelligence. He also showed me that there were hardly any Christians left, in the ancient meaning of the word. " (October 4, 1820)

“As I crossed Rome with San Francesco and other saints, we saw a large building surrounded by flames, from top to bottom. I was so afraid that the occupants could die burnt because nobody came forward to put out the fire. However, as we approached the fire diminished and we saw a blackened building. We passed through a large number of magnificent rooms, and finally we reached the Pope. He was sitting in the dark and sleeping on a large armchair. He was very sick and weak; he could no longer walk.

The clergymen in the inner circle seemed insincere and devoid of zeal; I didn't like them. I spoke to the Pope about the bishops who were soon to be appointed. I also told him that he should not leave Rome. If he did, it would have been chaos. He thought that evil was inevitable and that he had to leave to save many things ... He was very inclined to leave Rome, and he was insistently urged to do it ...

The Church is completely isolated and it is as if it were completely deserted. It seems everyone is running away. Everywhere I see great misery, hatred, betrayal, resentment, confusion and total blindness. O city! O city! What threatens you? The storm is coming; be vigilant! ". (October 7, 1820)

“I have also seen the various regions of the earth. My Guide [Jesus] named Europe and, pointing to a small and sandy region, expressed these surprising words: "Here is Prussia, the enemy". Then he showed me another place, to the north, and said: "this is Moskva, the land of Moscow, which brings many evils". (1820-1821)

“Among the strangest things I saw, there were long processions of bishops. Their thoughts and words were made known to me through images that came out of their mouths. Their faults towards religion were shown through external deformities. Some had only one body, with a dark cloud instead of the head. Others had only one head, their bodies and hearts were like thick vapors. Some were lame; others were paralyzed; still others slept or staggered. " (June 1, 1820)

“I saw that they were almost all the bishops of the world, but only a small number were perfectly righteous. I also saw the Holy Father - absorbed in prayer and fearful of God. There was nothing that left something to be desired in his appearance, but he was weakened by old age and by many sufferings. His head hung from side to side, and fell on his chest as if he was falling asleep. He often passed out and seemed to be dying. But when he prayed he was often comforted by apparitions from Heaven. At that moment his head was straight, but as soon as he dropped it on his chest I saw a number of people who looked quickly left and right, that is, towards the world.

Then I saw that everything related to Protestantism was gradually taking over and the Catholic religion was falling into complete decline. Most of the priests were attracted to the seductive but false doctrines of young teachers, and all of them contributed to the work of destruction.

In those days, the Faith will fall very low, and will be preserved only in some places, in a few houses and in a few families that God has protected from disasters and wars. " (1820)

“I see many clergymen who have been excommunicated and who don't seem to care, let alone seem to be aware of it. Still, they are excommunicated when they cooperate (sic) with businesses, enter associations and embrace opinions on which an anathema has been launched. You can see how God ratifies the decrees, orders and interdictions issued by the Head of the Church and keeps them in force even if men show no interest in them, refuse them or make fun of them ". (1820-1821)
.

“I saw the errors, aberrations and countless sins of men very clearly. I saw the madness and wickedness of their actions, against all truth and every reason. Among these there were priests and I with pleasure I endured my sufferings so that they could return to a better soul ". (March 22, 1820)

“I had another vision of the great tribulation. It seemed to me that a concession was being sought from the clergy that could not be granted. I saw many elderly priests, especially one, who wept bitterly. Even some younger ones were crying. But others, and the lukewarm ones, were among them, without objection what they were asked to do. It was as if people were dividing into two factions. " (April 12, 1820)

“I saw a new Pope who will be very rigorous. He will alienate the cold and lukewarm bishops. He is not a Roman, but he is Italian. It comes from a place that is not far from Rome, and I believe it comes from a devoted and real-blooded family. But for some time there will still be many struggles and unrest. " (January 27, 1822)

“Very bad times will come, in which non-Catholics will mislead many people. This will result in great confusion. I also saw the battle. The enemies were much more numerous, but the small army of faithful brought down entire rows [of enemy soldiers]. During the battle, the Madonna stood on a hill, and wore armor. It was a terrible war. In the end, only a few good cause fighters survived, but the victory was theirs. " (October 22, 1822)

“I saw that many pastors had gotten involved in ideas that were dangerous for the Church. They were building a large, strange, and extravagant Church. Everyone had to be admitted to it to be united and to have equal rights: evangelicals, Catholics and sects of all denominations. This was how the new Church should be ... But God had other plans. " (April 22, 1823)

“I wish it was here the time when the Pope dressed in red will reign. I see the apostles, not those of the past but the apostles of the end times and it seems to me that the Pope is among them. "

“In the center of hell I saw a dark and horrible-looking abyss and Lucifer had been thrown into it, after being securely fastened to chains… God himself had decreed this; and I have also been told, if I remember correctly, that he will be released for a certain period of fifty or sixty years before the year of Christ 2000. I was given the dates of many other events which I cannot remember; but a certain number of demons will have to be freed long before Lucifer, so that they will tempt men and serve as instruments of divine revenge. "

“A pale-faced man slowly floated above the earth and, untying the drapes that wrapped his sword, threw them on the sleeping cities, which were tied by them. This figure threw pestilence on Russia, Italy and Spain. Around Berlin there was a red bow and from there he came to Westphalia. Now the man's sword was drawn, blood-red stripes hung from the handle and the blood dripping from it fell on Westphalia [4]. "

"Jews will return to Palestine and become Christians towards the end of the world."
