Christ's last words on the Cross, that's what they were

Le last words of Christ they lift the veil on His path of suffering, on His humanity, on His full conviction of having to do the will of the Father. Jesus knew that His death was not a defeat but a victory over sin and death itself, for the salvation of all.

Here are his last words on the Cross.

  • Jesus said: "Father, forgive them, because they don't know what they are doing". After dividing his garments, they cast lots for them. Luke 23:34
  • He replied, "Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise." Luke 23:43
  • Then Jesus, seeing his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing beside her, said to his mother: "Woman, here is your son!" Then he said to the disciple: "Behold your mother!" And from that moment the disciple took her into his home. John 19: 26-27.
  • Around three o'clock, Jesus cried out in a loud voice: "Eli, Eli, lemà sabactàni?" Which means: "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?". Hearing this, some of those present said: "This man is calling Elijah." Matthew 27, 46-47.
  • After this, Jesus, knowing that everything had already been accomplished, said to fulfill the Scripture: "I am thirsty." John, 19:28.
  • And after receiving the vinegar, Jesus said: "Everything is finished!" And, bowing his head, he expired. John 19:30.
  • Jesus, crying out in a loud voice, said: "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." Having said this, he expired. Luke 23:46.
