Letter from a father to a non-daughter

Today I want to talk about a man
that is not taken much into consideration.
A man who at some point
of his life he met a daughter
who is not his daughter.
A man who at some point in the
his life knew the game,
he knew the smile,
and without knowing how he knew a love
who did not know.
A man who will wait for his baby
when he returns from school,
a man who will not sleep if his daughter
will not be able to sleep.
A man who will help his little girl
to study, to ride a bicycle,
to love, to live well.
A man who when his daughter goes out
for the first time with her boyfriend
will not sleep all night.
A man who never had a daughter
but at some point in his life
he feels like a father. Father for love,
of a daughter who is not her daughter.
Loving your children is commendable and holy,
but loving the children of others is an act
that few fathers manage to do.
On this March 19 St. Joseph's day,
Father's day, I want to dedicate a thought
to those fathers who love the children of others
just like St. Joseph who loved Jesus
who was not his true natural son.
My daughter when you grow up
and life will put you on the ropes,
if you feel lonely, in trouble,
turn back that your Father will always be there
not Father who will always love his daughter not daughter.
