Letter from a handicapped boy

Dear friends, I want to write this letter to tell you about the life of a disabled boy, what we really are and what you don't know.

Many of you when we make gestures, say a few words or smile, you are happy with what we do. Of course, you are all focused on our physique, on our handicap and when we sometimes do something different to overcome it, you are happy with how we react. You see our body instead we have a strength, something mysterious, divine. Just as you see material things in life, so you are focused on what we show.

We have a soul without sin, around us we have angels who speak to us, we emanate a divine light that only those who love and have faith can glimpse. As you look at our physical infirmities I see your spiritual ones. You are atheists, unhappy, materialistic and despite having everything you always seek every day. I have little, nothing, but I am happy, I love, I believe in God and thanks to me, to my sufferings, many of you in sin will be saved from eternal pains. Instead of looking at our bodies look at your souls, instead of noticing our physical infirmities give evidence to your sins.

Dear friends, I am writing this letter to make you understand that we were not born unlucky or by chance but we too, children with disabilities, have a divine mission in this world. The good Lord gives us infirmities in the body to transmit to you examples for the soul. Do not look at what is bad in us but instead take an example from our smiles, our soul, our prayers, the providence in God, honesty, peace.

Then on the last day of our life when our sick body ends up in this world I can tell you that the angels descend on this to take our soul, in the sky there is a sound of trumpets and a melody to glory, Jesus opens his arms and awaits us at the door of Heaven, the Saints of Heaven form a choir to the right and left while our soul, triumphant, crosses all of Heaven. Dear friend while on earth you saw the evil in my body I now from here I see the evil in your soul. I now see a man who moves, walks, talks in the body but with a handicap in the soul.

Dear friends, I wrote you this letter to tell you that we are not unfortunate or different but God has given us only a different task from yours. While you heal our bodies we give strength, example and salvation to your souls. We are not different, we are alike, we help each other and together we carry out God's plan in this world.
