BOOK OF PRAYERS FOR THE SICK

To you, O Lord, I raise my soul. My God, in you I trust; that I am not confused.

Lord, make your ways known, teach me your paths.

Guide me in your truth because you alone are the God of my salvation.

Look at the misery and my pain, forgive all my sins.

My heart speaks to you, my face seeks you, do not abandon me, Lord. Hear the cry with which I invoke you, have mercy on me and hear me. (from the psalms)

daily prayer

In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

In the morning

I bless you, Father, at the beginning of this new day.

Accept my praise and thanks for the gift of life and faith.

With the power of your Spirit guide my projects and my actions: let them be according to your word.

Free me from discouragement in the face of difficulties and from all evil.

Protect my family with your love.

Our Father, who art in heaven, may your name be sanctified, your kingdom come, your will be done, as in heaven, so on earth. Give us our daily bread today, and remit our debts to us as we forgive our debtors, and do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail, o Mary, full of grace: the Lord is with you: you are blessed among women, and blessed the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and in the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning now and forever and ever. Amen.

Hail or Queen, mother of mercy: life, sweetness and our hope, hello. We turn to you, we exiled children of Eve: we cry and weep in this valley of tears. Come on then, our advocate, turn those merciful eyes of yours to us. And show us, after this exile Jesus, the blessed fruit of your womb. Or cle-mente, or pious, or sweet Virgin Mary.

Angel of God, who are my guardian, enlighten, guard, rule and govern me,

that I was entrusted to you by heavenly piety. Amen.

Act of faith. My God, I believe in you, Father who lovingly calls every man by name. I believe in Jesus Christ, true God among us, dead and risen for us. I believe in the Holy Spirit, given to us as the Spirit of love. I believe in the church, gathered by the Spirit: one, holy, catholic and apostolic. I believe that the kingdom of God is among us, is on the way and will be fulfilled in full and festive communion. Lord help me grow and live in this faith.

Act of hope. My God, I know that your love is strong and faithful, and that it will not fail even after death. For this reason, and not for what I am capable of doing, I hope to be able to walk in your ways and reach an endless joy with you. Lord, help me to live every day in this joyful hope.

Act of charity. My God, I thank you for your love that you never withdraw from me. Help me to love you with all my heart and above all, you who are infinitely good. For your sake, let me know how to love my neighbor as myself.

Pain act. My God, I repent and I regret with all my heart about my sins, because by sinning I deserved your chaste ghee, and much more because I offended you, infinitely good and worthy of being loved above all things. I propose with your holy help never to be offended again and to flee the next opportunities of sin. Lord, mercy, forgive me.

The Angel of the Lord brought the announcement to Mary. - And she conceived by the Holy Spirit. Ave Maria…

Here is the handmaid of the Lord: - Let it be done to me according to your word. Ave Maria…

And the Word became flesh. - And he lived among us. Ave Maria…

Pray for us, Holy Mother of God. Because we are made worthy of Christ's promises.

Let us pray - Infuse your grace into our spirit, Lord. You, who at the announcement of the Angel revealed to us the incarnation of your Son, through his passion and cross, lead us to the glory of the resurrection. For Christ our Lord. Amen.

PRAYERS FOR THE DEAD

Give them eternal rest, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them, let them rest in peace. Amen.

Psalm 129

From the depths to you I cry, O Lord; Sir, listen to my voice. Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my prayer. If you consider the faults, Lord, Lord, who will survive? But forgiveness is with you, so we will have your fear. I hope in the Lord,

my soul hopes in his word. My soul awaits the Lord

more than the sentinels of the dawn. Israel awaits the Lord,

because mercy is with the Lord, redemption is great with him;

he will redeem Israel from all her sins. Give him eternal rest, O Lord,

and let perpetual light shine upon him. Rest in peace. Amen.

Remember Lord, of our dead Remember, Lord, of our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection. Am-put them to enjoy the light and joy of your face. Let them live in your peace forever.

In the evening

I bless you, Father at the end of this day. Accept my praise and thanks for all your gifts. Forgive my every sin: because I have not always listened to the voice of your Spirit, I have not been able to recognize Christ in the brothers I have met. Guard me during my rest: keep all evil away from me and give me to re-wake up with joy to the new day. Protect all your children wherever they are missing.

The Church thirsts for her Savior, yearning to quench her thirst at the source of the living water that gushes for eternal life (cf. Cassiodorus).

O God, you are my God, at dawn I look for you,

my soul thirsts for you, my flesh yearns for you,

as deserted, arid land, without water. So in the sanctuary I looked for you,

to contemplate your power and your glory.

Since your grace is worth more than life,

my lips will say your praise. So I will bless you as long as I live,

in your name I will raise my hands. I will be satisfied as a generous banquet,

and with voices of joy my mouth will praise you. In my bed of you I remember

I think of you in the night watches, you have been my help;

and call each by name. Great is the Lord, almighty,

his wisdom has no boundaries. The Lord supports the humble,

but lower the wicked to the ground. Sing a song of thanks to the Lord,

intone on the lyre hymns to our God. He covers the sky with clouds,

makes grass sprout on the mountains. He provides food for the cattle,

to the little ones of the crow who shout at him. It doesn't count the horse's vigor,

does not appreciate the agile running of man. The Lord delights in those who fear him,

SHORT READING

What great love the Father gave us to be called children of God, and we really are! Dear friends, from now on we are children of God, but what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know, however, that when he will be manifested, we will be similar to him, because we will see him as he is.

it lies on those who fear it. He explained the power of his arm,

he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their heart; overthrew the mighty from thrones,

raised the humble; has filled the hungry with good things,

he sent the rich away empty-handed. He has helped his servant Israel,

remembering his mercy, as he had promised our fathers,

to Abraham and his descendants forever.

R. We thank God.

At the end:

S. Word of the Lord.

L. Praise you, O Christ.

PROFESSION OF FAITH (CREDO)

I believe in one God,

Almighty father, creator of heaven and earth, of all visible and invisible things. I believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages: God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, generated, not created, of the same substance as the Father; through him all things were created. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and through the work of the Holy Spirit he incarnated himself in the womb of the Virgin Mary and became man.

He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, died and was buried. On the third day he rose, according to the Scriptures, he ascended to heaven, he sits at the right hand of the Father. And again he will come in glory, to judge the living and the dead; and his reign will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, who is Lord and gives life, and proceeds from the Father and the Son.

He is worshiped and glorified with the Father and the Son, and has spoken through the prophets. I believe the Church, a Catholic and apostolic saint. I profess only one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. I await the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come.

Amen.

R. Blessed be the Lord for centuries!

Then, addressing the assembly, he says:

EUCHARISTIC PRAYER V / C

Jesus model of love

PREFACE

It is truly right to give you thanks, Father mise-remembering: you have given us your Son, Jesus Christ, our brother and redeemer. In him you have manifested your love for the little ones and the poor, for the sick and the excluded. He never closed himself to the needs and sufferings of his brothers. With life and word he announced to the world that you are Father and you care for all your children. For these signs of your good-will we praise and bless you, and united with the angels and saints we sing the hymn of your glory:

T. Holy, holy, holy the Lord God of the universe. The heavens and the earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the heights of heaven. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the heights of heaven.

We glorify you, Holy Father: you always support us on our journey especially in this hour when Christ, your Son, gathers us for the holy supper. He, like the disciples of Emmaus, reveals the meaning of the Scriptures to us and breaks the bread for us.

We pray you, almighty Father, send your Spirit on this bread and on this wine, so that your Son may be present among us with his body and his blood.

On the eve of his passion, while dining with them, he took the bread and gave thanks, broke it, gave it to his disciples, and said:

Take and eat all of them: this is my Body offered in sacrifice for you.

In the same way, he took the cup of wine and gave thanks with the blessing prayer, gave it to his disciples, and said:

Take, and drink all of them: this is the cup of my Blood for the new and eternal covenant, paid for you and for all in remission of sins. Do this in memory of me.

Mystery of faith.

We announce your death, Lord, we proclaim your resurrection, waiting for your coming.

Or:

Every time we eat of this bread and drink from this chalice we announce your death, Lord, waiting for your coming.

Or:

You have redeemed us with your cross and your resurrection: save us, O Savior of the world.

Celebrating the memorial of our reconciliation we announce, or Father, the work of your love. With the passion and the cross you made Christ, your Son enter into the glory of the resurrection, and you called him to your right, immortal king of the ages and Lord of the universe.

Look, Holy Father, this offer: it is Christ who gives himself with his body and his blood, and with his sacrifice opens the way to you for us.

God, Father of mercy, give us the Spirit of love, the Spirit of your Son.

Strengthen your people with the bread of life and the cup of salvation; make us perfect in faith and love in communion with our Pope N. and our Bishop N.

Give us eyes to see the needs and sufferings of the brothers; infuse in us the light of your word to comfort the fatigued and the oppressed: let us be loyally committed to the service of the poor and the suffering.

May your Church be a living testimony of truth and freedom, of justice and peace, so that all men open themselves to the hope of a new world.

Remember also our brothers who died in the peace of your Christ, and all the deceased whose faith you have only known: admit them to enjoy the light of your face and the fullness of life in resurrection; also grant us, at the end of this pilgrimage, to reach the eternal home, where you await us.

In communion with the Blessed Virgin Mary, with the Apostles and martyrs (Saint N. saint of the day or patron) and all the saints we raise our praise to you in Christ, your Son and our Lord.

Through Christ, with Christ and in Christ, to you, God the Father almighty, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honor and glory for all ages and ages.

The sacrament of reconciliation

Penance

PENANCE is the sacrament of God's mercy and love.

God is Father and loves everyone indistinctly-mind. In Jesus he made known his benevolent and merciful face and ready to forgive.

IT IS GOOD FOR YOU TO CONFESS ME BECAUSE:

- I feel I'm guilty

- I wish to receive God's forgiveness

- I want to improve myself.

Before confessing your sins to the priest, minister of God, examine your conscience with sincerity and express your pain to the Lord for having offended him, and the firm purpose of a more committed Christian life.

Before confession

REVIEW OF LIFE You will love the Lord your God in totality (Jesus)

I live as if God didn't exist. Am I indifferent?

Do I believe in a "stopgap" God, that is, rice-writer of all problems?

Who is the center of my life: God, money, power or pleasure?

To love God one must know him: do I read and study the Gospel, the Bible, the Catechism?

Do I know and practice the Commandments? Am I a slave to pornography? Do I believe and trust the Church?

Gift of my time to the parish, to the sick, to the poor, to the Missions?

You will love your neighbor as yourself

How do I behave in the family?

Can I educate children about faith and do I get help where I can't?

Am I honest and committed to my job? Do I respect the environment and the highway code? Do I pay taxes? Can I forgive or do I hold a grudge?

Am I false with words or writings? Can I donate to those who really need?

Be perfect like my Father (Jesus)

Everything is a gift of God: life, intelligence, faith. Nothing is owed to me.

Can I really thank the Lord? Do I respect life?

Do I pray at least a quarter of an hour a day? Do I go to confession at least once a month? I ask God to help me live with faith the normal trials of life: conflicts, misfortunes, illness and suffering?

O Jesus of love lit up

I never offended you! O my dear and good Jesus with your holy help

I don't want to offend you anymore.

After confession

Lord Jesus Christ, I have received your word of forgiveness. You have once again shown me your tireless love and mercy. I thank you for your great kindness and for the patience you show me day by day.

Make me always listen to your word; and help me to remain faithful to your commandments.

Let me grow in fidelity to your van-gelo. Then I can truly hope that on the last day you will forgive me, as you have forgiven me today.

S. Communion

«I am the living bread that came down from Heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever, and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him ». (From the Gospel of St. John)

How to Worthily Receive the Lord:

L. Be in the grace of God.

2. Know and think who you are going to receive.

3. Observe the one hour fast before communion.

NB: - Water and medicines do not break the fast.

- The sick and those who assist them are kept at the Eucharistic fast of a quarter of an hour.

- There is an obligation to receive Communion every year at Easter and in danger of death as a Via-tico.

- The obligation of Easter Communion begins at the age of seven. it is a good and very useful thing to communicate often, even every day, as long as it is done with the due dispositions.

Preparation

Lord Jesus, I wish to receive you in Holy Communion because only whoever joins you has eternal life, only from you can I receive light and strength for my earthly journey.

I believe in your real presence in this Sacrament, instituted by your love for men; I believe that with the Sacrifice of the altar you renew and perpetuate the sacrifice of the Cross for our salvation.

Lord, I love you above all because you first loved us and made our food so that, through the Bread of life, we could draw on your divine life.

But I also know that I am a sinner, O my God, I am wavering in faith and I do not live according to your Gospel; I therefore ask you for forgiveness of my infidelities and I trust that, by joining you, I will find the remedy for my spiritual evils and the pledge of future glory. Sanctify me and make me live always in your will.

Thanksgiving

Lord Jesus, I thank you because you have given me yourself in eu-caristic communion, and you have become the spiritual food that sustains me in the daily journey and the pledge of my future resurrection.

I adore you humbly, because you are my God, and I want to unite my adoration to the incessant hymn of glory that the angels and saints elected to you.

I offer you, O Lord, my life so that you transform it into yours. Make me an extension of you in the midst of my brothers and may bear fruits of salvation for me and for the world.

Allow me to find my happiness in living in the light of faith, in fulfilling your will at all times, in knowing how to discover yourself in those around me, especially in the suffering and needy. O Jesus, who listens to those who place their trust in you, please help all my fellow men. I especially recommend you my family, relatives, friends and all I have met in life, even if I have received some harm. Bless your Church and give her holy priests. Soc-run the suffering and persecuted and draw sinners and those far away to you. Release the souls of purgatory and make them quickly enter the sky with you.

Prayer to Jesus Crucified

Here I am, oh my beloved and good Jesus, who prostrated in your most holy presence, I beg you with the most lively fervor to print in my heart sentiments of faith, hope, charity, pain for my sins and a proposition of no more. offend; while I with all the love and with all the compassion I go considering your five sores, starting with what he said about you, O my Jesus, the holy prophet David: They pierced my hands and my feet, they counted all my bones.

Invocations to Jesus Christ

Soul of Christ, sanctify me. Body of Christ, save me. Blood of Christ, inebriate me. Water from the side of Christ, wash me. Passion of Christ, comfort me.

O good Jesus, hear me. Within your wounds hide me. Defend me from the evil enemy. Don't let me separate from you. In the hour of my death, call me. Arrange for me to come to you and praise you with your saints forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer of the sick

who receives Holy Communion in bed Lord, I adore you with so much faith here present in the Sacrament of your love. With all my heart I thank you, because you deigned to come beside me, near the bed of my suffering, to bring me the gifts of your divine omnipotence, to lift the weight of my cross.

Lord, that one day you spent on earth doing good and healing everyone, also gives me the strength of Christian resignation and the joy of perfect health. Amen.

Spiritual communion

My Jesus, I believe that you are really present in the Blessed Sacrament. I love you above all things and I desire you in my soul. Since I cannot receive you sacramentally now, at least come spiritually into my heart… (short pause). As already come, I embrace you and unite all with you. Don't ever let me separate from you. Amen.

Reflection on disease

Sickness in Jesus' Work and Teaching

Sickness is the moment and situation of the Christian's life, in which the Church is present with a word of faith and hope and with a gift of grace, to continue the work of her Head who has come "doctor of the body and spirit ».

In fact, Jesus pays particular attention to the sick who resort to him with faith, or who are brought to him with trust, and he manifests his mercy towards them, freeing them together from infirmities and sins. While rejecting the explanation of illness as a punishment for a personal or ancestor's fault (Jn. 9,2: 4 s.), The Lord recognizes illness as an evil related to sin. Every act of healing carried out by Jesus is therefore an announcement of liberation from sin and a sign of the coming of the Kingdom.

Christian value of disease

In present life, illness offers the disciple of the Lord the possibility of imitating the Master, who has taken upon himself our sufferings (Mt. 8,17:XNUMX). Illness, like all suffering, if accepted and lived in union with the suffering Christ, thus takes on a value of redemption.

However, it remains an evil to be avoided, to be treated with diligence and to be alleviated. The Church encourages and blesses every initiative undertaken to overcome infirmities, because she sees in this a collaboration of men in the divine action of struggle and victory over evil.

The sacrament of the sick

Participation in the paschal mystery of Christ has a specific sacramental sign for the sick. With the sacred anointing of the sick, and the prayers of the priests, the whole Church recommends the sick to the suffering and glorified Lord, in order to lighten their pains and exhort them to join the passion and death of Christ, thus contributing to the good of the people of God.

By celebrating this sacrament, the Church proclaims Christ's victory over evil and death, and the Christian accepts, in his illness, the redemptive efficacy of Christ's action.

Who speaks to us of the holy oil as a sacrament already in use among the first Christians is the apostle St. James.

Receiving the sacrament of the sick, the Christian receives the visit of the best friend, the doctor who knows all the evils and all the remedies, Jesus, the good Samaritan

of all roads, good Cireneo for all crosses.

The rite of the Anointing

The priest greets those present with these words:

Dear brothers, Christ our Lord is present among us gathered in his name.

Let us turn to him with confidence like the sick of the Gospel. He, who has suffered so much for us, tells us through the apostle James: "Whoever is sick, call the priests of the Church to himself and pray over him, after having anointed him with oil, in the name of the Lord . And the prayer made with faith will save the sick: the Lord will raise him up and if he has committed sins, they will be lost to him ».

We therefore recommend our sick brother to the goodness and power of Christ, to give him relief and salvation.

So yes, do the penitential act, unless the priest at this point hears the sacra-mental confession of the sick.

The priest starts like this:

Brothers, we recognize our sins for being worthy to participate in this holy rite, together with our brother in-firm.

I confess to Almighty God ...

Or:

Lord, who took our sufferings upon you, and brought our pains, have mercy on us.

Lord, have mercy.

Christ, who in your goodness towards all you have passed by benefiting and healing the unwavering, have mercy on us.

Christ, have mercy.

Lord, who told your Apostles to lay hands on the sick, have mercy on us.

Lord, have mercy.

The priest concludes:

Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive our sins, and lead us to eternal life. Amen.

READING THE WORD OF GOD

One of those present, or even the priest himself, reads a short text from Sacred Scripture: Let us listen, brothers, to the words of the Gospel according to Matthew (8,5-10.13). When Jesus entered in Capernaum, a centurion came up to him who begged him: «Lord, my servant lies paralyzed in the house and is suffering terribly». Jesus answered him, "I will come and heal him." But the centu-ward said: «Lord, I am not worthy that you enter under my roof, just say a word and my servant will be healed. Because also I, who am a subordinate, have soldiers under me and I say to one: Go, and he goes; and another: Come, and he comes, and to my servant: Do this, and he does it. "

On hearing this, Jesus was amazed and said to those who followed him: «In truth I tell you, with no one in Israel have I found such a great faith». And he said to the village: «Go, and let it be done according to your faith».

BEFORE ANOINTING

Litanic prayer and laying on of hands.

Brothers, let us turn to the Lord the prayer of faith for our brother N., and let us say together: O Lord, hear our prayer.

For the Lord to come to visit this sick person and to comfort him with the holy Anointing, we pray. Hear, O Lord, our prayer.

Because in her goodness you bring relief to the sufferings of all the sick, we pray.

Hear, O Lord, our prayer.

To assist those who are dedicated to the care and service of the sick, let us pray.

Hear, O Lord, our prayer.

So that this sick person through the sacred Anointing with the imposition of the hands obtains life and salvation, we pray. Hear, O Lord, our prayer.

Then the priest lays his hands on the head of the in-firm, without saying anything.

If there are several priests, each of them can lay his hands on the head of the sick. It continues with the giving of thanks to God on the already blessed Oil.

So he says:

Lord, our brother N. who receives the anointing of this holy oil in faith, may you find relief in his pains and comfort in his sufferings. For Christ our Lord.

HOLY ANOINTING

The priest takes the holy oil and anoints it on his forehead and hands, saying once:

For this holy anointing and his pious mercy, help the Lord with the grace of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

And, freeing yourself from sins, you save yourself and in its goodness you lift yourself. Amen.

Then he says one of the following prayers:

PRAYERS

Lord Jesus Christ, who made you man to save us from sin and sickness, look kindly at this brother of ours who awaits the health of body and spirit from you: in your name we have given him the Holy Unction, you give him vigor and comfort, so that you can find your energies again, conquer all evil and in your present suffering feel united with your redemptive passion. You who live and reign forever and ever.

For an elderly person:

Look with goodness, Lord, at this brother of ours who has received holy anointing with faith, support to the weakness of his late age; comfort him in body and soul with the fullness of your Holy Spirit, so that he may always be firm in faith, serene in hope and happy to give witness to all of your love. For Christ our Lord.

For an agonizing:

Most clement Father, who know the hearts of men and welcome children who come back to you, have mercy on our brother N. in his agony; let the holy Anointing with the prayer of our faith sustain him and comfort him so that in the joy of your forgiveness he abandon himself confidently in the arms of your mercy. For Christ Jesus, your Son and our Lord, who has overcome death and opened for us the passage to eternal life, and who lives and reigns with you for all ages.

CONCLUSION RITES

The priest invites those present to recite the Lord's prayer, introducing it with these or other similar words:

And now, all together, let us turn to the Father the prayer which Jesus Christ our Lord taught us: our Father.

If the sick person takes Communion, at this point, after the Lord's Prayer, the ritual of Communion for the sick is inserted.

The rite ends with the priest's blessing:

God the Father grant you his blessing. Amen.

Christ, Son of God, give you health of body and soul. Amen.

May the Holy Spirit guide you today and always with his light. Amen.

And upon all of you present here, may the blessing of Almighty God, Father and Son + and Holy Spirit come down. Amen.

It is useful to remember that anyone who is in a state of illness can receive this sacrament which helps to restore confidence in God and better bear sickness, offers forgiveness of sins and in many cases contributes to healing also the body.

it is therefore clear that the sick themselves should ask for it, perhaps celebrating it throughout the dormitory, thus overcoming those absurd fears that make this Sacrament appear to be reserved for the dying, while it is an intervention of the Living God for the living who find themselves vain in a particular disease situation. It would be desirable to receive the anointing after a few days in hospital when fatigue and worry knock on our heart.

Via crucis of the sick

We propose this reflection-meditation-pre-ring which can be used with the sick. We suggest reading the corresponding biblical passage at each "station".

Introductory prayer

Lord, I want to redo the road of the cross with You. Your suffering brings a little light to my pain. May the strength and courage with which you faced death become my strength and my courage, so that the journey of life may be less heavy for me.

STATION I Jesus sentenced to death

We worship you or Christ and we bless you. Because with your holy cross you redeemed the world.

Lk 23,23-25 - But they insisted with a loud voice, asking that he be crucified: and their cries increased. Pilate then decided that their request be carried out. He released the one who had been jailed for riot and murder and whom they demanded, and he left Jesus to their will.

To the condemnation of men, you, Si-gnore, responded with silence.

Silence! this is the terrible reality in which I find myself. Illness has-

side by all; it suddenly separated me from my habits, my interests, my aspirations. it's true, there are many people who surround me with affection and love me, but my loneliness, the one that pierces the heart, nobody can fill it.

Only you, Lord, understand me. So please don't leave me alone! Pater, Ave, Gloria, Eternal rest

Holy Mother deh you make the wounds of the Lord imprinted in my heart.

STATION II Jesus loaded with the cross

We worship you or Christ and we bless you. Because with your holy cross you redeemed the world.

Mk 15,20:XNUMX - After mocking him, they stripped him of the purple and put on his garments, then led him out to crucify him.

Lk 9,23 - And he said to everyone: If anyone wants to follow me, he must deny himself, take up his cross every day and follow me.

On your innocent shoulders, here you are, Lord, the cross. You wanted it to show me all your love. I had never asked myself the reason for suffering; when pain affects others, one remains mostly indifferent. But when he knocked on my door, then everything changed: what seemed natural, logical to me before, has now become unnatural, absurd, out of hand. Yes, inhumane because you did not create us to suffer, but to be happy. The unacceptability of suffering is therefore a sign of a lost happiness. Lord, help me. Pater, Ave, Gloria, Eternal rest

Holy Mother deh you make the wounds of the Lord imprinted in my heart.

STATION III Jesus falls the first time

We worship you or Christ and we bless you. Because with your holy cross you redeemed the world.

Ps 37,3b-7a. 11-12.18 - Your hand has fallen on me. For your indignation there is nothing healthy in me, nothing is intact in my bones for my sins. My iniquities have overtaken my head, like a heavy burden they have oppressed me. Putrid and fetid are my wounds because of my folly. I am bent over and slumped. […] My heart palpitates, strength abandons me, the light of my eyes goes out. Friends and comrades move away from my wounds, my neighbors stay at a distance. […] Because I am about to fall and my pain is always before me.

That cross is too heavy for you! You have just started the ascent of Calvary and already weir on the ground. There are moments, Lord, in which my life seems beautiful to me, when it is easy for me to do good, when I feel immense joy in being good.

Then, however, in the face of temptation you fall. I would like to do good but I feel a strength in me that pushes me to disobey your law, your commandments. Illness is bad, but in me there is a greater one: it is sin. Of this, Sir, I ask your forgiveness. Pater, Ave, Gloria, Eternal rest

Holy Mother deh you make the wounds of the Lord imprinted in my heart.

STATION IV Jesus meets his Mother

We worship you or Christ and we bless you. Because with your holy cross you redeemed the world.

Lk 2,34-35 - Simeon blessed them and spoke to Mary, his mother: “He is here for the ruin and resurrection of many in Israel, a sign of contradiction so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed. And a sword will pierce your soul too. "

Your mother could not miss along the way of your passion. Now he is there next to you, silent because he is the only person who understands your pain.

Lord, I too would like to find in this hour of solitude and bitterness a person who understands me. I found that everyone here in the hospital is in a hurry, few know how to stop, few know how to listen. The weeping face of your mother has given you great despair.

Me too, Lord, give the joy of this meeting! Pater, Ave, Gloria, Eternal rest

Holy Mother deh you make the wounds of the Lord imprinted in my heart.

STATION V Jesus helped by Cyreneus

We worship you or Christ and we bless you. Because with your holy cross you redeemed the world.

Mk 15,21:XNUMX - Then they forced a man who was passing by, a certain Simon of Cyrene who came from the countryside, father of Alexander and Rufus, to carry the cross.

Mt 10,38:XNUMX - Whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.

Along the way to Calvary the executioners have thought of relieving you the weight of the cross, forcing a passer-by to give you a hand. And you, Lord, have looked at the city with great compassion but also with great love. your way of acting is strange: you created the whole universe and to come among us you wanted to need us. You could heal me in an instant instead you want my suffering to help me improve myself. Do you need me, Lord? Well, here I am with my miseries, with my inner poverty and with a great desire to be better. Pater, Ave, Gloria, Eternal rest

Holy Mother deh you make the wounds of the Lord imprinted in my heart.

STATION VI Jesus dried by Veronica

We worship you or Christ and we bless you. Because with your holy cross you redeemed the world.

Is 52,14; 53,2b. 3 - As many were amazed at him, his appearance was so disfigured to be a man, and his form was different from that of the children of man. Despised and rejected by men, a man of pain who knows suffering well, like someone before whom one covers one's face, he was despised and we had no respect for him.

Amid all the confusion, a simple gesture: a woman makes her way through the crowd and wipes your face. Perhaps no one has noticed; but you did not miss that pitiful gesture. Yesterday in my room there was a sick man who continued to annoy me with his useless moans; I wanted to rest: I couldn't. I wanted to protest but I didn't, Sir. I suffered in silence, I also cried, but nobody noticed it. Only you, Lord, have understood! Pater, Ave, Gloria, Eternal rest

Holy Mother deh you make the wounds of the Lord imprinted in my heart.

STATION VII Jesus falls the second time

We worship you or Christ and we bless you. Because with your holy cross you redeemed the world.

Ps 68,2a. 3.8 - Save me, O God. I sink into the mud and have no support; I fell into deep water and the wave overwhelms me. For you I bear the insult and shame covers my face.

Another fall: and this time more painful than the first. How difficult it is to start living every day again! Always the same gestures: the doctor who asks me how I am, the nurse who hands me the usual pill, the patient from the next room who continues to complain. Yet, you ask me, Lord, to become more good by accepting this terrible monotony of life, because only in patience and perseverance am I certain of being able to meet you. Pater, Ave, Gloria, Eternal rest

Holy Mother deh you make the wounds of the Lord imprinted in my heart.

STATION VIII Jesus meets the pious women

We worship you or Christ and we bless you. Because with your holy cross you redeemed the world.

Lk 23,27-28.31 - A great crowd of people and women followed him, beating their breasts and complaining about him. But Jesus, turning to the women, said: “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep over me, but weep over yourselves and over your children. Because if they treat green wood like this, what will happen to dry wood? "

Jn 15,5: 6-XNUMX - I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him bears much fruit, because without me you can do nothing. Whoever does not remain in me is thrown away like the branch and withers, and then they pick it up and throw it into the fire and burn it.

Jesus accepts the emotional participation of some women, but takes the opportunity to teach that it is not based on crying for others: it is necessary to convert. During these hours of solitude, I have often thought, Lord, about the situation of my soul. you invite me to change my life. I would like it, Lord, but I knew how difficult it is! The disease then put me in a state of rebellion. Why me? Forgive me. Help me understand, help me convert! Pater, Ave, Gloria, Eternal rest

Holy Mother deh you make the wounds of the Lord imprinted in my heart.

STATION IX Jesus falls the third time

We worship you or Christ and we bless you. Because with your holy cross you redeemed the world.

Ps 34,15-16 - But they rejoice in my fall, they gather, they gather against me to strike me suddenly. They tear me apart incessantly, they test me, mockery upon mockery, grind their teeth against me.

The effort becomes heavier and heavier once you stagger under the wood of the cross.

I believed, too, Lord, to be a good and generous person. Instead, it was a disease to undermine all my aspirations. one bad occasion was enough to find myself with my poverty and my littleness. Now I understand: life is also made up of falls, disappointments, bitterness. But you teach me to recover and confidently continue the road. Pater, Ave, Gloria, Eternal rest

Holy Mother deh you make the wounds of the Lord imprinted in my heart.

STATION X Jesus stripped of his clothes

We worship you or Christ and we bless you. Because with your holy cross you redeemed the world.

Jn 19,23-24 - The soldiers then, when they had crucified Jesus, took his clothes and made four parts, one for each soldier. And to the tunic. Now that tunic was seamless, woven all in one piece from top to bottom, so they said to each other: "Let's not tear it, but cast lots for it." Thus was the Scripture fulfilled: They divided my garments among themselves, and on my tunic they cast lots. And the soldiers did just that.

Here is your naked body in front of the shameless and curious gaze of a laughing crowd. The body, Lord, you created it. You wanted it to be beautiful, healthy, robust. But nothing is enough for this beauty to fall apart. My body knows in this hour the pain that oppresses and frightens. Only now do I understand the value of health.

Arrange, Lord, that when I am healed I have to use my body to do good. By looking at yours without blemish, you learn to use mine in purity and humility. Pater, Ave, Gloria, Eternal rest

Holy Mother deh you make the wounds of the Lord imprinted in my heart.

STATION XI Jesus on the cross

We worship you or Christ and we bless you. Because with your holy cross you redeemed the world.

Lk 23,33-34.35 - When they reached the place called Skull, there they crucified him and the two criminals, one on the right and the other on the left. Jesus said: "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing". After dividing their garments, they cast lots for them. The people watched, but the leaders mocked them saying: "He saved others, save himself, if he is the Christ of God, his chosen one."

Mt 27,37 - Above his head, they placed the written reason for his condemnation: "This is Jesus, the King of the Jews"

Mk 15,29:XNUMX - Passers-by insulted him, and shaking their heads, exclaimed: "Hey, you who destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself by coming down from the cross"

You have finally reached the end of your earthly life. The executioners are satisfied: they have done the work! They told me that the sick person looks like you crucified. I don't know if they do it to give me courage. Of course, on this cross, Lord, it is really bad. I would like him to descend from this cross. Instead, you teach me to stay until it's my time. Lord, accept my in-ability to accept this test! Pater, Ave, Gloria, Eternal rest

Holy Mother deh you make the wounds of the Lord imprinted in my heart.

STATION XII Jesus dies

We worship you or Christ and we bless you. Because with your holy cross you redeemed the world.

Mk 15,34: 39-XNUMX - At three o'clock Jesus cried out in a loud voice: Eloì, Eloì, lema sabactàni ?, which means: My God, my God why have you forsaken me? Some of those present, hearing this, said: "Here is Elijah calling!" One ran to soak a sponge in vinegar and placed it on a reed, gave him a drink, saying: “Wait, let's see if Elijah comes to take him off the cross” But Jesus, giving a loud cry, expired. The veil of the temple was torn in two from the other down. Then the centurion who stood in front of him, seeing him expire in that way, said: "Truly this man was the Son of God!"

Lk 23,45 - The veil of the temple was torn in the middle.

Now it's all over. Your life ended in the most ignominious and unfair way.

After all, you wanted it: that's why you came into the world, to die and to save us. We were born to live. I feel life as something greater than myself. Yet this sick body reminds me that that day will come for me too; that day that I wish would never arrive, find me, Lord, prepared like you. Grant that in that moment sister death find on my face the radiant light of a serene soul. Pater, Ave, Gloria, Eternal rest

Holy Mother deh you make the wounds of the Lord imprinted in my heart.

STATION XIII Jesus deposed

We worship you or Christ and we bless you. Because with your holy cross you redeemed the world.

Jn 19, 25.31.33-34 - Mary of Cleopas and Mary of Magdala stood near the cross of Jesus his mother, his mother's sister. It was the day of Parasceve and the Jews, so that the bodies would not remain on the cross during the Sabbath (it was in fact a solemn day that Saturday), asked Pilate to have their legs broken and taken away. But when they came to Jesus and seeing that he was already dead, they broke his legs, but one of the soldiers struck him in the side with a spear and immediately blood and water came out.

Your cold body is stripped from the cross. Your mother welcomes you into her loving arms. What a meeting! What a hug! I often think that my illness causes pain to my relatives and acquaintances. I consider myself not only an unnecessary being, but I know I am a burden to many people. It is precisely in these moments, Lord, that I feel all the heaviness of my sick body, the fragility of my being, the nullity of my life.

The community that welcomes me, both as your mother: understanding, generous, good. Pater, Ave, Gloria, Eternal rest

Holy Mother deh you make the wounds of the Lord imprinted in my heart.

STATION XIV Jesus in the sepulcher

We worship you or Christ and we bless you. Because with your holy cross you redeemed the world.

Jn 19,41:XNUMX - Now, in the place where he had been crucified, there was a garden and in the garden a new sepulcher, in which no one had yet been laid.

Mt 27,60b - Rolling a large stone over the door of the tomb, he went away

As your body after three days has known the glory of the resurrection, also I believe: I will rise again; and this body of mine will see you as savior. You who formed me in the image of your face, keep in me, Lord, the sign of your glory. I believe: I will rise again and this body of mine will see you as the savior. Pater, Ave, Gloria, Eternal rest

Holy Mother deh you make the wounds of the Lord imprinted in my heart.

STATION XV Jesus rises

We worship you or Christ and we bless you. Because with your holy cross you redeemed the world.

Mt 28,1: 10-XNUMX - After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala and the other Mary went to visit the sepulcher. And behold, there was a great earthquake: an angel of the Lord, descended from heaven, approached, rolled the stone and sat down on it. Her appearance was like lightning and her dress as white as snow. For the fright they had of him the guards trembled numb. But the angel said to the women: “Don't be afraid, you! I know you are looking for Jesus the crucified. It is not here. He is risen, as he said; come and see the place where he was laid. Quickly, go and tell his disciples: He has risen from the dead, and is now going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see it. Behold, I told you: Having left the tomb in haste, with fear and great joy, the women ran to give the announcement to his disciples. And here Jesus came to meet them saying: "Health to you". And they came near and girded his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them: "Do not be afraid: go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee and there they will see me".

You are risen, Lord. You held on, you remained faithful in the test and you won. You understood that suffering cannot be explained, but it can be lived with love. Lord now you live gloriously beside us because we too are winners. Give us the joy of the resurrection, You who continue to make our way. Pater, Ave, Gloria, Eternal rest

Holy Mother deh you make the wounds of the Lord imprinted in my heart.

CONCLUSIVE PRAYER

Make, Lord, that the meditation on your passion, bring to my soul the strength and the courage to overcome this mysterious test of life to be with you, one day, happy in your kingdom. Amen.

Letter… to my Lord

Forgive my impatience. I am writing to you because I have read in Scripture that I must not be disheartened by illness, you have promised to heal me if I have confidence in you. (Sir. 3)

Now, I have been invoking you for a long time, I ask you to come to my aid and I always remain the same. I have also read in the chronicles of these days that you continue to multiply your wonders, like yesterday in the Gospel. Your faithful tell of having seen the deaf and the blind heal, the lame walking. (Rev. RnS 7 / 8.89)

I too want to praise you with the beneficiaries, dear Lord, who thus want to show your saving presence and your mercy to my sick brothers.

But now I ask you to teach me to pray and ask yourself if the gift of health is more convenient for me, or abandon myself to your holy will, without asking me what will become of me and my pain.

Well, you ask me to trust, because you are good and merciful. You oblige me to ask, because whatever I ask in the name of Jesus will be given to me. Will I be impertinent if I still return to send you the same thing?

You take care of me and protect me in the shadow of your wings, that's why I beg you to have mercy on me and everything happens according to your promises. I ask you to forgive my sins, to sing your praises and heal, even if this is only an anticipation of the full health that will be granted to me when you call me to share your glorious life, with Jesus alive and risen.

I want to bless you, Lord, because I feel you close to me to illuminate the path of the cross, my inseparable companion, the same one you embraced for my sake.

Now do not deprive me of your Holy Spirit, because you have made me my ally and you do not want to disappoint me.

In you I trust, my Lord. So be it.

Prayers

TO OUR LADY OF HEALTH

Virgin Mary, who you are invoked with the title of Madonna della salute because in every time you have soothed human infirmities, you get to me and my loved ones the grace of health and the strength to endure the sufferings of life in union with those of Christ the king-dentor. Ave, o Maria.

Virgin Mary, who knows how to heal not only the infirmities of the body but also those of the spirit, obtain for me and my loved ones the grace to be free from sin and from all evil and to always correspond to the love of God. Ave, o Maria .

Virgin Mary, mother of health, obtain from the Lord for me and for my loved ones the grace of salvation and let us come to enjoy the bliss of heaven with you. Ave, o Maria.

Pray for us, holy Mary, health of the sick.

Because we are made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Grant to your faithful, Lord our God, to always enjoy the health of the body and the spirit and, through the glorious intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, always Virgin, rise from the evils that now sadden us and guide us to endless joy. For Christ our Lord.

Remember, virgin Mary

Remember, Virgin Mary, that it has never been heard that anyone has resorted to your patronage, asked for your help and protection, and was abandoned by you. Driven by this trust, I appeal to you, O mother, virgin of virgins; I introduce myself to you, repentant sinner.

O mother of Jesus, do not despise my prayers, but listen to me with benevolence and listen to me.

IN S. CAMILLO DE LELLIS

Born in Bucchianico (Chieti) on May 25, 1550, he spent up to 25 years an adventurous life far from God. After his conversion he devoted himself to assisting the sick, revolutionizing traditional systems and bringing the 'example of his heroic charity which was not afraid of putting his life at risk during the plagues. He founded the Order of the Ministers of the Sick (Camillians), made up of Fathers and Brothers, who assist the sick spiritually and physically. He died in Rome on July 14, 1614.

he is the patron saint of the sick and health workers.

1. O glorious St. Camillus, who devoted yourself to the care of the sick to serve in them the person of Christ suffering and wounded, and you assisted them with the tenderness of a mother beside her only child, protect them , with as much charity we who now invite you because afflicted by great need. Glory to the Father

2. St. Camillus, comforter of the suffering, who hugged the weakest and most abandoned ones to your breast; you knelt before them as in front of the Crucified Christ and wept saying: «My Lord, my soul, what can I do for you? »Intercede for us from God the grace to serve him in health of mind and heart. Glory to the Father

3. O Patron Saint of the sick, who revealed yourself to be an angel sent by God, when serious calamities struck the lands of Italy and everyone found in you a faithful brother and friend, do not abandon us now, entrusted by the Church to your heavenly protection. Be still for us the angel of the Lord who continues to watch over our family, tormented by pain. Glory to the Father

Prayer

Lord Jesus, who by making you man, you wanted to share our sufferings, I beg you, through the intercession of St. Camillus, to help me to overcome this difficult moment of my life.

As one day you showed a particular fondness for the sick, so now you also reveal your goodness to me.

Revive my faith in your presence and give to those who assist me the delicacy of your love. Amen.

TO S. ANTONIO

Remember, O St. Anthony, that you have always helped and consoled anyone who has turned to you in their needs.

Animated by great confidence and by the certainty of not praying in vain, I too run back to you, who are so rich in merits before the Lord.

Do not refuse my prayer, but make it come, with your intercession, to the throne of God.

Come to my aid in the present an-taste and necessity, and obtain for me the grace that I ardently implore.

Bless my work and my family: keep diseases and dangers of soul and body away from it.

Arrange that in the hour of pain and trial I can remain strong in the faith and in the love of God. Amen.

PRAYER IN DISEASE

O Lord, disease has knocked on the door of my life, has uprooted me from my work

and transplanted me to "another world", the world of the sick.

A hard experience, Lord, a difficult reality to accept. He made me touch with his hand

the fragility and precariousness of my life has freed me from many illusions.

Now I look at everything with different eyes: what I have and what I am does not belong to me, it is your gift.

I found out what it means to "depend", to need everything and everyone, not to be able to do anything alone.

I felt loneliness, anguish, despair, but also the affection, love, friendship of many people. Lord, even if it is difficult for me, I tell you: your will be done! I offer you my sufferings and unite them with those of Christ.

Please bless all the people who assist me and all those who suffer with me.

And if you want, give healing to me and to others.
