Blue lights in the sky during the earthquake, "it's the Apocalypse", what we know (VIDEO)

While a strong earthquake of magnitude 7,1 shook Mexico, several citizens reported the appearance of strange lights in the sky, some even going so far as to classify the event as "the apocalypse".

A strong earthquake hit the Mexican territory on the night of 7 September, shaking the foundations of different parts of the country.

Although tectonic faults are quite frequent in the Mexican nation, citizens also seemed surprised by the appearance of various colored rays in the sky. This has sparked several theories, becoming a topic of debate on social media.

Users of the Twitter platform posted several videos of what happened, making the hashtag a trend #apocalypse, a religious term to indicate the end of the world.

The event caused such a stir that thousands of users shared the images on their accounts, asking what it was all about.

According to Mexican authorities, the 7,1 magnitude earthquake struck the country near the well-known tourist resort of Acapulco, in the state of Guerrero, causing the death of a man, without causing significant damage.

Videos recorded from Acapulco showed that flashes of light appeared shortly after the earthquake's movements began, illuminating the dark mountains and some buildings with bright light.

So far, experts and scientists have not made many statements about this phenomenon.

However, researchers and theorists call this event Earthquake Lights (EQL, seismic lights), which can be caused by the collision of rocks at the time of the earthquake, thus creating electrical activity.
