Our Lady of Lourdes: February 2, Mary is part of the life of Christ in us

“The divine plan of salvation, which was fully revealed to us with the coming of Christ, is eternal. It is also eternally linked to Christ. It includes all men, but reserves a particular place for the "woman" who is the Mother of the one to whom the Father has entrusted the work of salvation. (…) Mary, foretold throughout the Old Testament, is definitively introduced into the mystery of Christ through the event of the Annunciation ”(RM).

Since then Mary is part of the life of Christ in every man, indeed, she is the "easy way" that leads to him and helps to walk the path of personal and universal salvation.

Of course, compared to the infinite greatness and majesty of God, Mary is only a creature. God did not have and does not need her to carry out his will and manifest his glory. But the Lord chose to make use of her, he wanted to put all his treasures of graces in her hands and he did so from the beginning, as he continues to do so for all eternity, since his will is immutable.

God the Father wanted to give his Son Jesus to the world through Mary. He could have done a thousand other ways, but he chose this, he chose her, the Virgin! St. Augustine says that the world was unworthy to receive the Son of God directly from the hands of the Father: He gave him to Mary, so that the world could receive him through her. Thus the Son of God became man for our salvation in Mary and through Mary. The Holy Spirit worked this prodigy after receiving the unconditional yes of the Virgin of Nazareth.

Thus Jesus lived intimately linked to her, dependent on her like every child, emotionally united to his Mother like every child, thus giving glory to God who had thought of this in his plan of love. that is why, following the example of Jesus, our only model, we submit to Mary, we turn to her, we entrust ourselves to her and we consecrate ourselves to her, we give the greatest glory to the Heavenly Father!

Furthermore, the more the Holy Spirit finds Mary his Bride in a soul, the more he works there with power to be able to form Jesus. Then we must call Mary to enter our life so that she can carry out her maternal task without obstacles, that which the Lord he has always entrusted her to make us similar to Jesus in love and in every virtue. She knows how to do it like nobody else can and she knows how to do it! His continuous apparitions, his messages that we are called to live, lead us to this: to live as true children, to love the Word of God and put it into practice, to look to Heaven and to know the way to reach it.

Commitment: Let us recite the Magnificat slowly, more with the heart than with the mind, and we praise the Lord who has given us this Mother on whom we can always count during the journey of life.

Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us.
