May, month of Mary: meditation on the twenty-seventh day

LAUNCH AND DEPOSITION

27 DAY
Holy Mary.

Invocation. - Mary, Mother of mercy, pray for us!

Sixth pain:
LAUNCH AND DEPOSITION
Jesus was dead, his sufferings were finished, but they were not finished for the Madonna; still a sword had to pierce it.
In order that the joy of the following Easter Saturday might not be disturbed, the Jews placed the condemned from the cross; if they were not yet dead, they killed them by breaking their bones.
Jesus' death was certain; however one of the soldiers approached the Cross, gave a spear blow and opened the side to the Redeemer; blood and water came out of it.
This launch was an outrage for Jesus, a new pain for the Virgin. If a mother saw a knife stuck in the chest of her dead son, what would she feel in her soul? … Our Lady contemplated that merciless act and you feel her Heart pass through it. More tears flowed from his eyes. Merciful souls took an interest in having Pilate's permission to bury the body of Jesus. With great respect, the Redeemer was deposed by the Cross. Our Lady had the body of the Son in her arms. Sitting at the foot of the cross, with a heart broken by pain, she contemplated those sacred bloody limbs. He saw in his mind his Jesus, a tender, fond child, when he covered him with kisses; he saw him again a graceful teenager, when he enchanted with his attraction, being the most beautiful of the children of men; and now he was aiming at him lifeless, in a state of pity. He looked at the crown of thorns soaked with blood and those nails, instruments of the Passion, and stopped to contemplate the wounds!
Blessed Virgin, you have given your Jesus to the world for the salvation of men and look at how men make you now! Those hands that blessed and benefited, human ingratitude pierced them. Those feet that went around to evangelize are wounded! That face, which the Angels aim with devotion, men have reduced it unrecognizable!
O devotees of Mary, so that the consideration of the Virgin's great pain at the foot of the Cross is not in vain, let us take some practical fruit.
When our eyes rest on the Crucifix or on the image of the Madonna, we re-enter ourselves and reflect: I with my sins have opened the wounds in the body of Jesus and made the Heart of Mary tear and bleed!
Let us put our sins, especially the most serious ones, in the wound of the side of Jesus. The Heart of Jesus is open, so that everyone can enter it; however it is entered through Mary. The Virgin's prayer is very effective; all sinners can enjoy its fruits.
Our Lady implored the divine mercy on Calvary for the good thief and obtained the grace to go to Heaven that day.
No soul doubts the goodness of Jesus and the Madonna, even if it was full of the most enormous sins.

EXAMPLE

The Disciple, a talented sacred writer, narrates that there was a sinner, who among other faults also had that of having killed his father and brother. To escape justice he went wandering.
One day in Lent, he entered a church while the preacher spoke of God's mercy. His heart opened to trust, he decided to confess and, having finished his sermon, said to the preacher: I want to confess with you! I have crimes in my soul! -
The Priest invited him to go to pray at the Altar of Our Lady of Sorrows: Ask the Virgin for the real pain of your sins! -
The sinner, kneeling before the image of Our Lady of Sorrows, prayed with faith and received so much light, for which he understood the seriousness of his sins, the many offenses brought to God and Our Lady of Sorrows and was taken by such pain that he died at the feet of the 'Altar.
The following day the preaching priest recommended that the people pray for the unhappy man who died in the church; while saying this, a white dove appeared in the Temple, from which a folder was seen falling before the feet of the Priest. He took it and read it: The soul of the dead man who had just left the body went to Heaven. And you continue to preach the infinite mercy of God! -

Foil. - Avoid scandalous speeches and reproach those who dared to make them.

Ejaculation. - O Jesus, for the plague of your side, pity the scandalous!
