«Me, thanks to the Madonna». The grace of the Loreto ribbon

A mother writes to the Poor Clares, a letter of joy for the grace of having given birth to a baby.

A letter sent to the Passionist nuns of Loreto rekindles the attention on the wonders attributed to the black Virgin as intercessor of the gift of motherhood. The miracle of life is intimately linked to the Marian Shrine, where it is ancient practice to place blessed ribbons on the walls of the Holy House, blue as the mantle of the Madonna, to be wrapped around the womb of women who wish to have a child but who for various reasons, after years of vain attempts, fail to fulfill this dream. It is a devotion that has its roots in distant centuries and finds a biblical-theological foundation in the fact that Mary, in her House in Nazareth, became mother of Jesus through the work of the Holy Spirit. History reports several famous cases. And there is the story of a couple from Noale, in the province of Venice, who by now resigned had started the adoption procedures. “Like so many women - Stefania writes in the letter of thanks to the Passionist nuns - I went to the Sanctuary of the Madonna di Loreto with the hope that she would give me and my husband a son. With faith I always wore your blue ribbon and Our Lady listened to me. Last October, when we started the adoption process, I got pregnant. I continued to wear the tape for the whole nine months for Maria to protect my baby. After a troubled and frightened birth, with the help of God and Our Lady, our miracle came to the world on 9 July.
