Collection
O Father, who in the mystery of Pentecost
sanctify your Church in every people and nation,
spread to the ends of the earth
the gifts of the Holy Spirit,
and continues today, in the community of believers,
the wonders that you have worked
at the beginning of the preaching of the Gospel.
For our Lord Jesus Christ.

First Reading
All were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak.
From the Acts of the Apostles
Acts 2,1: 11-XNUMX

While the day of Pentecost was taking place, they were all together in the same place. Suddenly there came a roar from the sky, almost a rushing wind, and filled the whole house where they were staying. Tongues of fire appeared to them, dividing, and resting on each of them, and all were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, in the way the Spirit gave them the power to express themselves.

Observing Jews then lived in Jerusalem, from every nation under heaven. At that noise, the crowd gathered and was disturbed, because everyone heard them speak in their own language. They were amazed and, astonished at themselves, they said: "Aren't all these people talking Galilei? And why do each of us hear people speak in their native language? We are Parti, Medi, Elamìti; inhabitants of Mesopotàmia, Judea and Cappadòcia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Panfìlia, Egypt and parts of Libya near Cirène, Romans here residing, Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabs, and we hear them speak in our tongues of the great works of God ».

God's word

Responsorial Psalm
From Psalm 103 (104)
R. Send your Spirit, Lord, to renew the earth.
?Or:
R. Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah.
Bless the Lord, my soul!
You are so great, Lord, my God!
How many are your works, Lord!
You made them all wisely;
the earth is full of your creatures. R.

Take their breath away: they die,
and return to their dust.
Send your spirit, they are created,
and renew the face of the earth. R.

May the glory of the Lord be forever;
rejoice the Lord of his works.
May my song please him,
I will rejoice in the Lord. R.

Second reading
Those who are guided by the Spirit of God, these are children of God.
From the letter of Saint Paul the Apostle to the Romans
Rom 8,8-17

Brothers, those who allow themselves to be dominated by the flesh cannot please God. However, you are not under the dominion of the flesh, but of the Spirit, since the Spirit of God lives in you. If someone does not have the Spirit of Christ, it does not belong to him.

Now, if Christ is in you, your body has died of sin, but the Spirit is life for justice. And if the Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who lives in you.

So therefore, brothers, we are indebted not to the flesh, to live according to carnal desires, because, if you live according to the flesh, you will die. If, on the other hand, by the Spirit you make the works of the body die, you will live. In fact all those who are guided by the Spirit of God, these are children of God.

And you did not receive a slave spirit to fall back into fear, but you received the Spirit who makes children adopted, by means of which we cry out: "Abba! Father!". The Spirit himself, together with our spirit, attests that we are children of God. And if we are children, we are also heirs: heirs of God, co-heirs of Christ, if we really take part in his sufferings to also participate in his glory.

Gospel
The Holy Spirit will teach you everything.
From the Gospel according to John
Jn 14,15-16.23b-26

At that time, Jesus said to his disciples:

«If you love me, you will keep my commandments; and I will pray to the Father and he will give you another Paraclete to remain with you forever.
If anyone loves me, he will keep my word and my Father will love him and we will come to him and take up residence with him. Whoever does not love me does not keep my words; and the word you hear is not mine, but of the Father who sent me.
I have said these things to you while I am still with you. But the Paraclete, the Holy Spirit that the Father will send in my name, he will teach you everything and remind you of everything I have said to you ».

Word of the Lord

On offers
Send, Father,
the Holy Spirit promised by your Son,
because you reveal fully to our hearts
the mystery of this sacrifice,
and open us to the knowledge of the whole truth.
For Christ our Lord.

After communion
O God, whom you have given to your Church

keep your gift in us,
because in this spiritual food
that feeds us for eternal life,
may the power of your Spirit always work within us.
For Christ our Lord.

In dismissing the assembly, it is said:

V. The Mass is over: go in peace. Alleluia, alleluia.

Go and bring the joy of the risen Lord to everyone. Alleluia, alleluia.

R. Thanks be to God, alleluia, alleluia.

Easter time ends with the solemnity of Pentecost. It is good to bring the Easter candle to the baptistery and keep it there with due honor. At the flame of the candle, the candles of the newly baptized are lit in the celebration of baptism.
