THURSDAY 11 JULY 2019
Mass of the Day
SAINT BENEDICT, ABATE, PATRON OF EUROPE - PARTY

Liturgical Color White
Antiphon
I will make you a great people and bless you,
I will make your name great
and you will be a blessing for all. (See Gen 12,2)

Collection
O God, you have chosen Saint Benedict Abbot
and you made him master of those who dedicate
life at your service, grant us too
not to put anything before the love of Christ
and to run with a free and ardent heart
in the way of your precepts.
For our Lord Jesus Christ ...

First Reading
Incline your heart to prudence.
From the book of Proverbs
Pr 2,1-9

My son, if you accept my words
and you will keep my precepts in you,
tending your ear to wisdom,
tilting your heart to prudence,
if in fact you will invoke intelligence
and you will turn your voice to prudence,
if you look for it like silver
and for having it you will dig as for treasures,
then you will understand the fear of the Lord
and you will find the knowledge of God,
because the Lord gives wisdom,
science and prudence come out of his mouth.
He reserves success for the righteous,
it is a shield to those who act righteously,
watching over the paths of justice
and protecting the ways of its faithful.
Then you will understand fairness and justice,
righteousness and all the ways of good.

God's word

Responsorial Psalm

From Psalm 33 (34)
R. Taste and see how good the Lord is.
I will bless the Lord at all times,
his praise always on my mouth.
I glory in the Lord:
the poor listen and rejoice. R.

Magnify the Lord with me,
let's celebrate his name together.
I looked for the Lord: he answered me
and from all my fears he freed me. R.

Look at him and you will be radiant,
your faces will not have to blush.
This poor man cries and the Lord listens to him,
it saves him from all his anxieties. R.

The angel of the Lord encamps
around those who fear him, and free them.
Taste and see how good the Lord is;
blessed is the man who takes refuge in him. R.

Fear the Lord, his saints:
nothing is missing from those who fear him.
Lions are miserable and hungry,
but those who seek the Lord do not lack any good. R.

Gospel acclamation
Hallelujah, hallelujah.

Blessed are the poor in spirit,
because of them is the kingdom of heaven. (Mt 5,3)

Hallelujah.

Gospel
You who followed me will receive a hundred times as much.
From the Gospel according to Matthew
Mt 19,27-29

At that time, Peter replied to him: «Behold, we have left everything and followed you; what then shall we have? "
And Jesus said to them: "Truly I say to you: you who have followed me, when the Son of man will be seated on the throne of his glory, to the regeneration of the world, you will also sit on twelve thrones to judge the twelve tribes of Israel. Whoever has left houses, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or children, or fields for my name, will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life ».
