Mass of the day: Thursday 20 June 2019

THURSDAY 20 JUNE 2019
Mass of the Day
THURSDAY OF THE XI WEEK OF ORDINARY TIME (ODD YEAR)

Green Liturgical Color
Antiphon
Hear my voice, Lord: I cry to you.
You are my help, don't push me away,
do not abandon me, God of my salvation. (Ps 26,7-9)

Collection
O God, fortress of those who hope in you,
listen benignly to our invocations,
and because in our weakness
nothing we can without your help,
help us with your grace,
because faithful to your commandments
we can please you in intentions and works.
For our Lord Jesus Christ ...

First Reading
I have freely announced the gospel of God to you.
From the second letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Corìnzi
2Cor 11,1-11

Brothers, if only you could bear some madness on my part! But, of course, you put up with me. In fact, I feel a kind of divine jealousy for you: I promised you in fact to a single husband, to present you to Christ as a caste virgin. I fear, however, that, as the serpent with his malice seduced Eve, so your thoughts are somehow led astray by their simplicity and purity towards Christ.

In fact, if the first come preaches to you a Jesus other than what we preached to you, or if you receive a spirit other than what you have received, or another gospel that you have not yet heard, you are well prepared to accept it. Now, I believe I am in no way inferior to these "super apostles"! And even if I am a layman in the art of speaking, I am not a layman in the doctrine, as we have shown in all respects before you.

Or maybe I committed a guilt by lowering myself to exalt you, when I freely announced the gospel of God to you? I have impoverished other Churches by accepting what is necessary to live, in order to serve you. And, finding myself with you and being in need, I was not a burden to anyone, because the brothers who came from Macedonia provided for my needs. In all circumstances I have done everything possible not to be burdensome and will do so in the future. Christ is my witness: no one will take away this boast in the land of Achaia! Because? Maybe because I don't love you? God knows!

God's word

Responsorial Psalm
From Psalm 110 (111)
R. The works of your hands are truth and right.
?Or:
R. Love and truth is the justice of the Lord.
I will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart,
among the righteous men gathered in assembly.
Great are the works of the Lord:
those who love them seek them. R.

His action is splendid and majestic,
his justice remains forever.
He left a memory of his wonders:
the Lord is merciful and merciful. R.

The works of his hands are truth and right,
all his commands are stable,
unchanging forever, forever,
to be performed with truth and righteousness. R.

Gospel acclamation
Hallelujah, hallelujah.

You have received the Spirit that makes foster children,
by means of which we cry: "Abbà! Father!". (Rm 8,15bc)

Hallelujah.

Gospel
So you pray like this.
From the Gospel according to Matthew
Mt 6,7-15

At that time, Jesus said to his disciples:

«When praying, do not waste words like pagans: they believe they are listened to by words. So don't be like them, because your Father knows what things you need before you even ask him.
So you pray like this:
Our father who art in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
Come your kingdom,
your will be done,
as in heaven so on earth.
Give us today our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts
as we also pass them on to our debtors,
and do not abandon us to temptation,
but free us from evil.
For if you forgive others their sins, your Father in heaven will also forgive you; but if you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your sins ».

Word of the Lord

On offers
O God, who in bread and wine
give man the food that feeds him
and the sacrament that renews it,
let it never fail us
this support of body and spirit.
For Christ our Lord.

Communion antiphon
One thing I asked the Lord; this alone I seek:
to live in the house of the Lord every day of my life. (Ps 26,4)

?Or:

The Lord says: "Holy Father,
keep in your name those you gave me,
because they are one, like us ». (Jn 17,11)

After communion
Lord, participation in this sacrament,
sign of our union with you,
build your Church in unity and peace.
For Christ our Lord.
