Mass of the day: Saturday 27 July 2019

Be propitious to us your faithful, Lord,
and give us the treasures of your grace,
because, burning with hope, faith and charity,
we always remain faithful to your commandments.
For our Lord Jesus Christ ...

First Reading
Here is the blood of the covenant that the Lord has concluded with you.
From the book of Exodus
Ex 24,3-8

In those days, Moses went to report to the people all the words of the Lord and all the rules. All the people answered with one voice saying: "All the commandments that the Lord has given, we will carry them out!".
Moses wrote all the words of the Lord. He got up early and erected an altar at the foot of the mountain, with twelve steles for the twelve tribes of Israel. He charged some young men among the Israelites to offer burnt offerings and to sacrifice heifers as sacrifices of communion for the Lord.
Moses took half the blood and put it in many basins and poured the other half on the altar. Then he took the covenant book and read it in the presence of the people. They said, "What the Lord said, we will do it and listen to you."
Moses took the blood and sprinkled the people, saying: "Here is the blood of the covenant that the Lord has concluded with you on the basis of all these words!".

God's word

Responsorial Psalm
Ps 49 (50)
R. Offer praise to God as a sacrifice.
Speak the Lord, God of gods,
summons the land from east to west.
From Zion, perfect beauty,
God shines. R.

«Before me gather my faithful,
who have established the alliance with me
offering a sacrifice ».
The heavens announce his justice:
it is God who judges. R.

Offer praise to God as a sacrifice
and dissolve your vows to the Most High;
invoke me on the day of anguish:
I will set you free and you will give me glory. R.

Gospel acclamation
Hallelujah, hallelujah.

Accept the Word with docility
which was planted in you
and it can lead you to salvation. (Gc 1,21bc)

Hallelujah.

Gospel
Let both grow together until harvest.
From the Gospel according to Matthew
Mt 13,24-30

At that time, Jesus exposed another parable to the crowd, saying:

«The kingdom of heaven is like a man who has sown good seed in his field. But, while everyone was asleep, his enemy came, sowed weeds among the wheat and went away. Then when the stem grew and bore fruit, the tares also appeared.

Then the servants went to the master of the house and said to him, “Lord, have you not sown good seed in your field? Where does the tares come from? ”. And he said to them, "An enemy has done this!"
And the servants said to him, "Do you want us to go and collect it?" “No, he replied, because it doesn't happen that, by harvesting the tares, you also uproot the wheat. Let both grow together until the harvest and at the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers: Collect the tares first and tie them in bundles to burn them; instead put the wheat in my barn "».

Word of the Lord

On offers
O God, who in the one and perfect sacrifice of Christ
you have given value and fulfillment
to the many victims of the ancient law,
welcome and sanctify our offer
as one day you blessed the gifts of Abel,
and what each of us presents in your honor
benefit the salvation of all.
For Christ our Lord.

Communion antiphon
He left a memory of his wonders:
the Lord is good and merciful,
he gives food to those who fear him. (Ps 110,4-5)

?Or:

«Here I am at the door and I knock» says the Lord.
"If anyone listens to my voice and opens me,
I will come to him, I will dine with him and he with me ». (Ap 3,20)

After communion
Assist, Lord, your people,
that you have filled with the grace of these holy mysteries,
and let us pass from the decay of sin
to the fullness of new life.
For Christ our Lord.
