Mass of the day: Friday 21 June 2019

FRIDAY 21 JUNE 2019
Mass of the Day
S. LUIGI GONZAGA, RELIGIOUS - MEMORY

Liturgical Color White
Antiphon
Who has innocent hands and pure heart
will go up to the mountain of the Lord,
and will be in his holy place. (Cf. Ps 23,4.3)

Collection
O God, principle and source of all good,
than in St. Luigi Gonzaga
you wonderfully combined austerity and purity,
do that for his merits and prayers,
if we have not imitated him in innocence,
we follow him on the path of evangelical penance.
For our Lord Jesus Christ ...

First Reading
In addition to all this, my daily hassle, concern for all the Churches.
From the second letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Corìnzi
2Cor 11,18.21: 30b-XNUMX

Brothers, since many boast from a human point of view, I will boast too.

In what someone dares to brag about - I say this as a fool - I dare brag too. Are they Jews? Me too! Are they Israelites? Me too! Are they descendants of Abraham? Me too! Are they ministers of Christ? I'm going to say madness, I am more than they are: much more in the labors, much more in the captivity, infinitely more in the beatings, often in danger of death.

Five times from the Jews I received forty hits minus one; three times I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, three times I was wrecked, I spent a day and a night at the mercy of the waves. Countless journeys, dangers of rivers, dangers of brigands, dangers of my countrymen, dangers of pagans, dangers of the city, dangers of the desert, dangers of the sea, dangers of false brothers; inconvenience and fatigue, waking without number, hunger and thirst, frequent fasting, cold and nakedness.

In addition to all this, my daily hassle, concern for all the Churches. Who is weak, who also is not weak? Who receives scandal, which I do not care?

If it is necessary to brag, I will boast of my weakness.

God's word

Responsorial Psalm
From Psalm 33 (34)
R. The Lord frees the righteous from all their anxieties.
?Or:
R. The Lord is with us in the hour of trial.
I will bless the Lord at all times,
his praise always on my mouth.
I glory in the Lord:
the poor listen and rejoice. R.

Magnify the Lord with me,
let's celebrate his name together.
I looked for the Lord: he answered me
and from all my fears he freed me. R.

Look at him and you will be radiant,
your faces will not have to blush.
This poor man cries and the Lord listens to him,
it saves him from all his anxieties. R.

Gospel acclamation
Hallelujah, hallelujah.

Blessed are the poor in spirit,
because of them is the kingdom of heaven. (Mt 5,3)

Hallelujah.

Gospel
Where is your treasure, there will also be your heart.
From the Gospel according to Matthew
Mt 6,19-23

At that time, Jesus said to his disciples:

«Do not accumulate treasures for you on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break and steal; instead accumulate treasures for you in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consume and where thieves do not break and steal. Because where your treasure is, your heart will also be there.

The lamp of the body is the eye; therefore, if your eye is simple, your whole body will be luminous; but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be dark. If therefore the light in you is darkness, how great the darkness will be! ».
