Miracle: healed by the Madonna but far from Lourdes

Pierre de RUDDER. A healing that took place far from Lourdes about which much will be written! Born July 2, 1822, in Jabbeke (Belgium). Illness : Open fracture of the left leg, with pseudarthrosis. Healed April 7, 1875, aged 52. Miracle recognized on July 25, 1908 by Mons. Gustave Waffelaert, bishop of Bruges. It is the first recognized miraculous healing that occurred far from Lourdes, unrelated to the water in the Grotto. In 1867, Pierre suffered a broken leg after falling from a tree. Consequence: open fracture of the two bones of the left leg. He is hit by a cancerous infection that takes away the slightest hope of consolidation. The amputation recommended by doctors is refused several times. After a few years, totally helpless, they give up treatment. It is therefore in this state that, eight years after his accident, on April 7, 1875, he decides to make a pilgrimage to Oostaker where, recently, a reproduction of the Lourdes Grotto has been found. Left in the morning invalid from his house, he returns in the evening without crutches, without sores. Bone consolidation occurred within minutes. Once the emotion has passed, Pierre de Rudder resumes his normal and active life. He went to Lourdes in May 1881 and died twenty-three years after his recovery, on March 22, 1898. Later, in order to better judge, the bones of the two legs were exhumed, which made it possible to demonstrate the objective reality of both the lesion and consolidation, as demonstrated by the plaster cast available to the Bureau Médical.
