Novena to Merciful Love composed by Mother Hope to have thanks

FIRST DAY

In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit

Introductory prayer (for every day)

My Jesus, great is my pain considering the misfortune that I have had to offend you many times: instead, with the heart of the Father, you have not only forgiven me but with your words: "ask and you will get" invite me to ask you how much I am necessary. Full of trust I appeal to your Merciful Love, so that you may grant me what I implore in this novena and above all the grace to change my conduct and henceforth to testify my faith with works, living according to your precepts, and to burn in the fire of your charity.

Meditation on the first words of our Father.

Father. It is the title that suits God, because we owe to him what is in us in the order of nature and in the supernatural order of grace that makes us his adopted children. He wants us to call him Father because, as children, we love him, obey him and honor him, and to revive in us the love and confidence to obtain what we ask of him. Ours because having God only one natural Son, in his infinite charity he wanted to have many foster children to whom to communicate his riches and because, having all the same Father and being brothers, we loved each other.

Question (for every day)

My Jesus, I appeal to you in this tribulation. If you want to use your clemency with this wretched creature of yours, your goodness triumphs. For your love and mercy forgive my faults, and even if unworthy of obtaining what I ask of you, fully grant my wishes if it is for your glory and for the good of my soul. In your hands I abandon myself: do with me what you like.

(We ask for the grace we wish to obtain with this novena)

Prayer

My Jesus, be for me Father, guardian and guide in my pilgrimage so that nothing disturbs me and you do not miss the path that leads to you. And you, my Mother, who with such delicacy and concern have taken care of the good Jesus, educate me and help me in the fulfillment of my duty, leading me along the paths of the commandments. Say for me to Jesus: "Receive this son, I recommend him to you with all the insistence of my motherly heart".

Three Pater, Ave and Gloria.

SECOND DAY

Introductory prayer (as on the first day)

Meditation on the words of the Our Father: "That you are in heaven". Let's say that you are in heaven because, although God is everywhere as Lord of heaven and earth, the thought of heaven moves us to love him with more veneration and, living in this life as pilgrims, to aspire to heavenly things.

Prayer

My Jesus, I know that you raise the fallen, free the prisoners from prison, do not reject any afflicted one and look with love and mercy on all the needy. So listen to me, please, because I need to talk to you about the salvation of my soul and to receive your healthy advice. My sins frighten me, my Jesus, I am ashamed of my ingratitudes and my mistrust. I am very afraid of the time that you have given me to do good and that I, on the other hand, have spent badly and, worse still, offending you.

I appeal to you, Lord, that you have words of eternal life.

Three Pater, Ave and Gloria.

THIRD DAY

Introductory prayer (as on the first day)

Meditation on the words of our Father: "Hallowed be your name". This is the first thing we must desire, the first thing we must ask for in prayer, the intention that must direct all our works and actions: that God be known, loved, served and adored and that he submits to his power every creature.

Three Pater, Ave and Gloria.

FIFTH DAY

Introductory prayer (as on the first day)

Meditation on the words of our Father: "Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven". Here we ask that the will of God be done in all creatures with strength and perseverance, with purity and perfection, and we ask to carry it out ourselves, in any way and for whatever way we come to know.

Give me, my Jesus, a living faith, make me faithfully observe your divine commandments and that, with the heart full of your love and your charity, run on the way of your precepts. Bless me, my Jesus, the Almighty of the Father. Bless me your Wisdom. May the most benign Charity of the Holy Spirit give me your blessing and keep me for eternal life.

Three Pater, Ave and Gloria.

SIXTH DAY

Introductory prayer (as on the first day)

Meditation on the words of our Father: "Give us our daily bread today". Here we ask for the most excellent bread which is the SS. Sacrament; the ordinary food of our soul, which is grace, the sacraments and the inspirations of heaven. We also ask for the food necessary to preserve the life of the body, to be procured in moderation.

We call the Eucharistic Bread our because it is instituted for our need and because our Redeemer gives himself to us in Communion. We say daily to express the ordinary dependence we have on God in everything, body and soul, every hour and every moment. Saying give us today, we perform an act of charity, asking for all men without the worry of tomorrow.

Question (like the first day)

Prayer

My Jesus, you who are the source of life, give me to drink the living water that flows from yourself so that, tasting of you, I am not thirsty any more than you; drown me all in the abyss of your love and your mercy and renew me with your precious blood, with which you redeemed me. Wash me, with the water of your most holy side, from all the stains with which I contaminated the beautiful robe of innocence that you gave me in baptism. Fill me, my Jesus, with your holy Spirit and make me pure of body and soul.

Three Pater, Ave and Gloria.

SEVENTH DAY

Introductory prayer (as on the first day)

Meditation on the words of our Father: "Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors". We ask God to forgive our debts, that is, the sins and the penalty deserved for them; enormous pain that we could never pay if not with the blood of the good Jesus, with the talents of grace and nature that we have received from God and with all that we are and possess. In this question, we commit ourselves to forgiving our neighbor for the debts he has with us, without taking revenge, even forgetting the insults and offenses he has done to us. So God puts in our hands the judgment that will be made of us, because if we forgive he will forgive us, but if we do not forgive others, He will not forgive us.

Question (like the first day)

Prayer

My Jesus, I know that you call everyone without exception; live in the humble, love those who love you, judge the cause of the poor, have mercy on everyone and do not despise what your power has created; you conceal the shortcomings of men, wait for them in penance and receive the sinner with love and mercy. Open also to me, Lord, the source of life, grant me forgiveness and annihilate in me all that opposes your divine law.

Three Pater, Ave and Gloria.

EIGHTH DAY

Introductory prayer (as on the first day)

Meditation on the words of our Father: "Do not lead us into temptation". In asking the Lord not to let us fall into temptation, we recognize that He allows temptation for our good, our weakness to overcome it, the divine fortress for our victory. We recognize that the Lord does not deny his grace to those who do for their part what is necessary to overcome our powerful enemies.

By asking that you do not let us fall into temptation, we ask you not to take on new debts beyond those already contracted.

Question (like the first day)

Prayer my Jesus, be protection and comfort to my soul; be my defense against all temptations and cover me with the shield of your truth. Be my companion and my hope; defense and shelter against all dangers of soul and body. Guide me into the vast sea of this world and deign to console me in this tribulation. May I use the abyss of your love and mercy to be very sure, so that I will be able to see myself free from the snares of the devil.

Three Pater, Ave and Gloria.

NINTH DAY

We ask that God free us from all evil, that is, from the evils of the soul and those of the body, from the eternal and temporal ones; from past, present and future; from sins, vices, disordered passions, bad inclinations and the spirit of anger and pride.

We ask it by saying Amen with intensity, affection and trust, since God wants and commands that we ask like this.
