Today an Italian boy, Carlo Acutis (1991-2006), was proclaimed blessed.
.
Coming from an upper middle class family, a brilliant teenager, Carlo was a boy who could have done anything in life. His story will end too soon: at 15 he will die of fulminant leukemia.

A short life, but full of graces.

From an early age he has a great passion and a true genius for everything that is computer science and technology, skills that he puts at the service of others, so much so that someone already sees him as the patron of the web.

One of his teachers at the classical high school "Leone XIII" in Milan remembers him thus:

"Being present and making the other feel present was a note that soon struck me about him." At the same time he was “so good, so gifted as to be recognized as such by all, but without arousing envy, jealousy, resentment. The goodness and authenticity of Carlo's person have won over the games of revenge which tend to lower the profile of those who are endowed with outstanding qualities ».
Carlo never concealed his choice of faith and even in debates with classmates he respected others, but without giving up the clarity of saying and bearing witness to his principles. One could point to him and say: here is a young man and a happy and authentic Christian ”.
.

This is how his mother remembers him:

“He never complained, he didn't like hearing bad things about other people. But he wasn't perfect, he wasn't born a saint, he made a lot of efforts to improve himself. He taught us that with will we can make great strides. He certainly had a great faith, which he lived concretely ”.

“In the evening it happened to help the ironer who worked with us, so that she could go back to her family first. Then he was a friend of many homeless people, he brought them food and a sleeping bag to cover themselves. At his funeral there were many foreign people I did not know, all friends of Carlo. All while studying in high school: sometimes he finished the versions at 2 in the morning ".

Among his notes we read a sentence that well represents his struggle to bring out the best in himself:

"We are all born as originals, but many die as photocopies."
