Do our dogs go to Heaven?

The wolf will live with the lamb,
and the leopard will lie down with the kid,
and the calf, the lion and the fatted calf together;
and a child will guide them.

--Isaiah 11: 6

In Genesis 1:25, God created the animals and said they were good. In other early sections of Genesis, both humans and animals are said to have the "breath of life". Man has been given dominion over every living being on earth and in the sea, a great responsibility. We understand that the difference between man and animal is that people are made in the image of God, according to Genesis 1:26. We have a soul and a spiritual nature that will continue after our bodies are dead. It is difficult to clearly demonstrate that our pets will be waiting for us in heaven given the silence of the scriptures on the subject.

We do know, however, from two verses of Isaiah, 11: 6 and 65:25, that there will be animals that will live in perfect harmony in Christ's millennial reign. And since many things on earth seem to be a shadow of the wonderful reality of heaven that we see in Revelation, I must say that our relationships with the animals in our life now must prepare us for something similar and good to come.

What awaits us during eternal life is not given to us to know, we will find out when the time comes, but we can cultivate the hope of finding our dear four-legged friends also there with us to enjoy peace and love, of the sound of the angels and of the banquet that God is preparing to welcome us.
