Father beats and poisons his daughter because she has converted to Christianity

La 38-year-old mother of three said she fled from her home in Namakoko village, Nangonde sub-county, in Ugandalast month after her Muslim relatives threatened her.
The woman converted to faith in Christ in February after a "miraculous" healing.
"My mother warned me that the family was planning to kill me," Hajat told Morning Star News from his hospital bed.
"I shared my fears with the pastor and he, along with his family, agreed to welcome me and I freely shared my new life in Christ with friends on WhatsApp and this created problems for me," he added.
A text message talking about the welcome in the pastor's house, whose name has not been released for security reasons, reached the father, who mobilized other family members to locate her. Hajat said that on the morning of June 20, relatives arrived at the pastor's house and began to beat her.
"My father, Al-Hajji Mansuru Kiita, he recited many Koranic verses cursing and stating that I was no longer part of the family, ”said the 38-year-old.
"He started beating and torturing me with a blunt object, inflicting bruises on my back, chest and legs, and eventually forced me to drink poison, which I tried to resist but swallowed a little."
When the neighbors arrived, alarmed by the woman's cries, the Muslim relatives fled, not without leaving a letter attacking the woman and the pastor.
"The pastor was not present when the attackers arrived but a neighbor called him on the phone," Hajat said.
"They took me to the nearby clinic for first aid and then they took me to another place for treatment and prayer."
In addition to the anguish of being separated from her children, aged 5, 7 and 12, who are staying with their father, Hajat needs more specialized care.
The pastor reported the attack to a local official and Hajat is now in an unknown location for his safety.
