Padre Pio and his first exorcism: he drove the devil out of the confessional

Padre Pio was an Italian priest who lived in the XNUMXth century and is revered as a saint by the Catholic Church. He is known for his ability to exorcism, especially for having hunted the diavolo from a confessional. The story took place in the church of San Giovanni Rotondo, where Padre Pio used to confess sinners and pray for them.

One day while in the confessional, Padre Pio had a moment of divine inspiration that told him to get up and leave the confessional immediately. It was then that the friar noticed something moving in the darkness of the confessional booth and realized it was the demon same.

Without fear, he prayed aloud and ordered the demon to leave: “In the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit I command you: Go away! You won't dare enter here again!“. The demon immediately obeyed the priest's order and made a screeching noise before going out.

Padre Pio was shocked by what he had just seen but showed no fear or doubts about what had happened; indeed he continued to pray intensely in response to the words of the Lord: "If God is with me who will be against?". It was also said that he was able at that moment to see the soul of the person he was not confessing.

After meeting the devil in the confessional, Padre Pio took it upon himself to make sure this thing never happened again. He began a journey of self-sacrifice by undergoing penance, always praying, and offering his divine rest to others. This example of behavior and trust in the Lord's words were something the faithful appreciated so much that for this reason he was canonized in 2002 Saint of the Catholic Church.
