Pope Francis asked all of us to recite this prayer to the Holy Spirit

In the general audience last Wednesday, November 10, Papa Francesco he encouraged Christians to invoke him more frequently Holy Spirit in the face of difficulties, fatigue or discouragement of daily life.

"We learn to invoke the Holy Spirit often," said Francis. “We can do it with simple words at various times of the day”.

The Holy Father recommended that Catholics keep a copy of the "beautiful prayer that the Church recites at Pentecost".

" 'Come divine Spirit, send your light from Heaven. Loving father of the poor, gift in your splendid gifts. Light that penetrates into souls, source of the greatest consolation '. It will do us good to recite it frequently, it will help us to walk in joy and freedom ”, said the Pope, reciting the first half of the prayer.

“The key word is this: come. But you have to say it yourself in your own words. Come, because I'm in trouble. Come, because I'm in the dark. Come, because I don't know what to do. Come, because I'm about to fall. You come. You come. Here's how to invoke the Spirit, ”the Holy Father said.

PRAYER TO THE HOLY SPIRIT

Here is the prayer to the Holy Spirit

Come, Holy Spirit, send us a ray of your light from Heaven. Come, father of the poor, come, giver of gifts, come, light of hearts. Perfect comforter, sweet guest of the soul, sweetest relief. In fatigue, rest, in the heat, shelter, in tears, comfort. O most blessed light, invade within, the heart of your faithful. Without your strength, nothing is in man, nothing without guilt. Wash what is sordid, wet what is dry, heal what bleeds. Bend what is rigid, warm what is cold, straighten what is misled. Give to your faithful who trust your holy gifts only in you. Give virtue and reward, give holy death, give eternal joy. Amen.
