Pope Francis recalled the importance of Baptism

Christians are "called in a more positive way to live a new life which finds its founding expression in sonship with God".

He affirmed it Papa Francesco during the general audience, held in the Paul VI Hall, continuing the catechesis on Letter to the Galatians.

“It is decisive - affirms the Pontiff - also for all of us today rediscover the beauty of being children of God, brothers and sisters among us because they are included in Christ. The differences and contrasts that create separation should not have abode with believers in Christ ”.

The vocation of the Christian is - added Bergoglio - “that of making concrete and evident the call to unity of the whole human race. Everything that exacerbates the differences between people, often causing discrimination, all this, before God, no longer has consistency, thanks to the salvation achieved in Christ ”.

He - continued the Pontiff “allowed us to truly become children of God and his heirs. We Christians often take this reality of being children of God for granted. Instead, it is good to always remember the moment in which we became one, that of our own. baptism, to live with greater awareness the great gift received and faith allows us to be children of God in Christ ”.

“If you asked today if you know the date of your baptism, I think there would be few hands raised. Yet that is the day we became children of God. Returning home, - he invited us to be Pope - ask the godparents or godmothers, to the relatives on which day you were baptized, and also celebrate ”.
