Pope Francis: "I witnessed a miracle, I'll tell you about it"

Papa Francesco he told, during the General Audience two days ago, Wednesday 12 May that he had witnessed a miracle when it was archbishop of Buenos Aires.

It was the unexplained healing of a 9-year-old girl thanks to the prayers of the father. The Pontiff said: "Sometimes we ask for a grace but we ask for it like this without wanting, without fighting: this is how serious things are not asked", underlining that the little girl's father, on the other hand, prayed in a 'combative' way.

Doctors told the parent that the child would not spend the night due to an infection.

The Pope's account: “That man perhaps did not go to mass every Sunday but he had great faith. He went out crying, left his wife there with the baby in the hospital, took the train and walked the 70km to the Basilica of Our Lady of Lujan, the patron saint of Argentina, and the basilica was already closed there, it was almost 10 in the evening ... and he clung to the gratings of the Basilica and all night praying to Our Lady, fighting for the health of his daughter ”.

“This is not a fantasy, I saw it, I lived it: fighting, that man there. Finally, at 6 in the morning, the church opened, he went in to greet the Madonna and returned home. All night in combat“Said Bergoglio.

And again: "When he arrived" in the hospital he looked for his wife and not finding her he thought: 'No, Our Lady cannot do this to me... then he finds her smiling, 'I don't know what happened, the doctors say that she has changed like this and that now she is healed'. That man struggling with prayer had the grace of Our Lady, Our Lady listened to her. And I saw this: prayer works miracles ”.

Pope Francis' lesson on the miracle: "Prayer is a fight and the Lord is always with us: if in a moment of blindness we fail to perceive its presence, we will succeed in the future ”.
