Pope Francis recounts the miracle he witnessed

This incredible story is about one child dying, and is told directly by Pope Francis, an eyewitness of what happened.

Pope Francis during the Angelus on Sunday 24 April spoke of a dying little girl who was saved thanks to her father's prayers. The Holy Father tells this story which shows the power of Jesus' faith and the Lord's miracles.

The memory of this little girl left an indelible mark on his own life as a Christian. It was a summer night of 2005 or 2006. Jorge Mario stood in front of the gate of the basilica of Nuestra Señora de Luján. Shortly before the doctors told him that his daughter, hospitalized, would not spend the night. As soon as he heard the news, Jorge walked 60 kilometers to reach the Basilica and pray for her.

Clinging to the gate he repeated without stopping "Lord save her” all night long, praying to Our Lady and crying out for God to hear him. In the morning he rushed to the hospital. At his daughter's bedside he found her weeping and at that moment he thought her daughter hadn't made it.

But his wife explained that she was crying with happiness. The little girl was healed and the doctors could not understand what had happened, they did not have a scientific answer to this event.

An extraordinary story that leads the Pope to wonder if all men have the same courage and put all their strength into prayer and the faithful to wonder what really happened that night in Lujan.

I Vatican media at this point they set themselves on the trail of Argentine priest witness of what happened, to understand more. The priest decided to tell the story, but preferred to remain anonymous. One summer evening, while he was walking home, he saw Jorge attached to the gate, with a branch of roses. She approached him to find out what was wrong and the man told him the story of his sick daughter. At that point the priest invited him to enter the basilica.

Once in the basilica, the man knelt in front of the presbytery and the priest sat in the first pew. Together they recited the Rosary. After 20 minutes the priest blessed the man and they said goodbye.

The following Saturday the priest saw the man again with an 8 or 9 year old girl in his arms. She was his daughter, the daughter that Our Lady had saved.
