Pope Francis reveals the 'secret' that all spouses should know

God went beyond the expectations of Joseph and Mary: the Virgin agreed to conceive Jesus and Joseph welcomed the son of God, the savior of humanity, both spouses opened their hearts wide to the reality that the Most High entrusted to them.

This reflection served Pope Francis to tell the spouses and newlyweds that 'very often' our life does not proceed as we had imagined.

Especially in relationships of love, of affection, it is difficult for us to pass from the logic of falling in love to that of mature love which requires commitment, patience, perseverance, planning, trust.

And we want to report what is written in the letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians which tells us what mature love is: 'Love is always patient and kind, it is never jealous. Love is never conceited or full of itself, it is never rude or selfish, it does not take offense and it does not hold a grudge. Love does not feel satisfaction with the sins of others but takes delight in the truth; he is always ready to apologize, to trust, to hope and to withstand any storm '.

'Christian couples are called to bear witness to a love that has the courage to pass from the logic of falling in love to those of mature love', the Pope said.

Falling in love 'is always marked by a certain charm, which makes us live immersed in an imaginary that often does not correspond to the reality of the facts'.

However, 'it is just when the infatuation with your expectations seems to end' that 'it can begin' or 'when true love comes'.

In fact, loving is not expecting the other or life to correspond to our imagination; rather, it means freely choosing to take responsibility for life as it is offered to us. This is why Joseph gives us an important lesson, he chooses Mary 'with open eyes' ”, concludes the Holy Father.
