Because Pontius Pilate was an important figure in the New Testament

Pontius Pilate was a key figure in the trial of Jesus Christ, ordering Roman troops to execute Jesus' death sentence by crucifixion. As Roman governor and supreme judge in the province from 26 to 37 AD, Pilate had the sole authority to execute a criminal. This soldier and politician found themselves trapped between the unforgivable empire of Rome and the religious plots of the Jewish council, the Sanhedrin.

Realizations of Ponzio Pilato
Pilate was charged with collecting taxes, supervising construction projects and maintaining public order. He maintained peace through brute force and subtle negotiation. Pontius Pilate's predecessor, Valerio Grato, passed through three high priests before finding one of his liking: Giuseppe Caifa. Pilate held Caiaphas, who apparently knew how to cooperate with Roman overseers.

The strengths of Ponzio Pilato
Pontius Pilate was probably a successful soldier before receiving this patronage appointment. In the Gospels, he is portrayed as not finding any defect in Jesus and symbolically washing his hands.

Weaknesses of Pontius Pilate
Pilate was afraid of the Sanhedrin and a possible revolt. He knew that Jesus was innocent of the charges against him and yet he had surrendered to the crowd and had him crucified anyway.

Life lessons
What is popular is not always right, and what is right is not always popular. Pontius Pilate sacrificed an innocent man to avoid problems for himself. Disobeying God to accompany the crowd is a very serious matter. As Christians, we must be prepared to take a stand for the laws of God.

Home town
Pilate's family is believed to have come from the Sannio region of central Italy.
