Policeman reads the Bible to a woman who wants to commit suicide and saves her

Sunday 9 August 2020, on the Costa Cavalcanti bridge, which connects Ciudad del Este and Hernandarias, in Paraguay, a policeman read a passage from the Bible to a woman and thus prevented her from jumping downstairs.

That day, Juan Osorio, Special Operations Group (GEO) agent, he arrived at the place where the woman was trying to kill herself and had a 30-minute conversation with her. The woman told him that she had recently lost her son.

Then the policeman took the Bible, opened it the Gospel in John 1:51 and he read: "Verily, verily I say to you: you will see heaven open and the angels of God ascend and descend upon the Son of man". They both then started to cry.

The police officer told the Paraguayan newspaper Extra: "I always carry the Bible with me ever since I was shot in a raid. I chose chapter 1 verse 51 of the book of John because I had read it shortly before. And in that moment those words seemed to me like an explanation that God would be with her ”.

The policeman added: “I was talking to her and, in the meantime, I was thinking about what could have happened. I was shaking and my hands were sweating. If I grabbed her and let go, it would have been my fault. I wondered why he was there ”.

“While they were talking, a girl suddenly appeared and started talking to the woman. So the policeman took advantage of the opportunity to move quickly and help the lady, moving her away from the edge of the bridge ".
