Prayer to Our Lady of Sorrows to be recited on Good Friday

Hail, Mary, Queen of sorrows, Mother of mercy, life, sweetness and our hope. Listen again to the voice of Jesus, who from the top of the Cross, dying, says to you: "Behold your son!". Turn your gaze to us, who are your children, exposed to temptation and trial, sadness and pain, anguish and disbandment. We take you with us, sweetest Mother, like John, so that you may be the watchful and loving guide of our souls. We consecrate ourselves to you to lead us to Jesus the Savior. We are confident in your love; do not look to our misery, but to the blood of your divine Crucified Son who has redeemed us and obtain for us the forgiveness of sins. Make us worthy children, authentic Christians, witnesses of Christ, apostles of love in the world. Give us a big heart, ready to give and to give yourself. Make us instruments of peace, concord, unity and fraternity.

Our Lady of Sorrows looks kindly to the vicar on earth of your Son, the Pope: support him, comfort him, keep him for the good of the Church. Guard and protect bishops, priests and consecrated souls. It raises new and generous vocations to priestly and religious life.

Maria, see our families, so full of problems, without peace and serenity. Comfort the suffering brothers, the sick, the distant, the disheartened, the unemployed, the desperate. To your children, your maternal caress, which protects them from evil, makes them grow strong, generous and healthy in soul and body. Watch over young people, make their souls clear, their smile without malice, their youth be radiated by enthusiasm, ardor, great desires and splendid achievements. Your help and comfort to parents and the elderly, Mary, prelude to heaven and certainty of life.

Looking at You Sorrowful, at the foot of the Cross, we feel our hearts open to the greatest confidence and we instill courage in expressing the most hidden desires, the most insistent implorations, the most arduous requests. No one else better than You can understand us, nobody, we believe it, is willing to help us and nobody has a prayer more powerful than yours. Therefore listen to us when we invoke you, O mighty by grace with God. Look at our hearts, they are full of wounds; look at our hands, they are full of requests. Do not disdain us, but help us to heal the many wounds of the heart and to know how to ask only what is right and holy. We love you and today and always we are your Mother SS. Sorrows.
