Prayer to the Madonna written by Pope Francis

O Mary, our Immaculate Mother,
on the day of your feast I come to you,
and I'm not alone:
I carry with me all those whom your Son has entrusted to me,
in this City of Rome and throughout the world,
because You bless them and save them from danger.

I bring you, Mother, the children,
especially the lonely, abandoned ones,
and that for this they are deceived and exploited.
I bring you, Mother, families,
that keep life and society going
with their daily and hidden commitment;
especially the families who struggle the most
for many internal and external problems.
I bring you, Mother, all the workers, men and women,
and I entrust you above all to those who, out of necessity,
strives to do unworthy work
and those who have lost their job or cannot find it.

We need your spotless look,
to regain the ability to look at people and things
with respect and gratitude,
without selfish interests or hypocrisy.
We need your immaculate heart,
to love for free,
without ulterior motives but seeking the good of the other,
with simplicity and sincerity, giving up masks and tricks.
We need your immaculate hands,
to caress with tenderness,
to touch the flesh of Jesus
in poor, sick, despised brothers,
to raise those who have fallen and to support those who falter.
We need your spotless feet,
to meet those who cannot take the first step,
to walk on the paths of those who are lost,
to visit lonely people.

We thank you, O Mother, because by showing yourself to us
free from any stain of sin,
You remind us that first of all there is the grace of God,
there is the love of Jesus Christ who gave his life for us,
there is the power of the Holy Spirit who renews everything.
Let us not give in to discouragement,
but, trusting in your constant help,
we work hard to renew ourselves,
this City and the whole world.
Pray for us, Holy Mother of God!
