Prayer to be recited today first Friday of the month to the Heart of Jesus

O very sweet Jesus, whose immense love for men is repaid by us with ingratitude, forgetfulness, contempt and sins, here we, prostrate in front of you, intend to make up for this unworthy behavior with this honorable fine and to the many offenses with which your most lovable Heart is wounded by so many ungrateful children of yours.

Recalling, however, that in the past we too have stained ourselves with similar sins and always feeling the most intense pain, we implore, first of all for us, your mercy, ready to repair, with an adequate expiation, not only our sins, but also the sins of those who, trampling on the promises of baptism, have shaken the gentle yoke of your law and like scattered sheep refuse to follow you, shepherd and guide.

While we intend to detach ourselves from the slavery of passions and vices, we propose to make reparation for all our sins: the offenses done to you and to your divine Father, the sins against your law and your gospel, the injustices and sufferings caused to our brothers, the scandals of morals, the snares aimed against innocent souls, the public sins of the nations which violate the rights of men and which prevent your Church from exercising her saving ministry, negligence and profanations of your own sacrament of love.

To this end we present to you, O merciful Heart of Jesus, as reparation for all our faults, that infinite atonement that you yourself offered on the cross to your Father and that you renew every day on our altars, uniting it with the atonements of your holy Mother, of all the saints and of the many pious souls.

We intend to repair our sins and those of our brothers and sisters, presenting our sincere repentance, the detachment of our heart from any disordered affection, the conversion of our life, the firmness of our faith, faithfulness to your law, innocence of life and the fervor of charity.

O very kind Jesus, through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, welcome our voluntary act of reparation. Give us the grace to remain faithful to our commitments, in obedience to you and in service to our brothers. We ask you again for the gift of final perseverance, to be able one day to reach all that blessed homeland, where you reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit for ever and ever. Amen.
