Prayer of February 3: improve your character

"... the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, tolerance, kindness, goodness, fidelity, gentleness and self-control." - Galatians 5: 22-23 Have you ever found yourself behaving differently with one person than another? Some people share our passion for Jesus, but do we talk about Him with the same enthusiasm around those who might be uncomfortable or who don't know Him? What makes us shape-shift in this way, to adapt to what we believe to be acceptable behavior towards specific people, instead of adopting a coherence of character around everyone?

Honesty includes consistency of character. Paul wrote to the Galatians of the fruit of the Spirit and to the Ephesians of the armor of God. Consistency of character translates into a humble submission of our life to Christ. By wearing the armor of God daily, we can experience the fruit of the Spirit flowing through us in Christ.

“… Be strong in the Lord and his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, in order to take a stand against the plans of the devil ”. - Ephesians 6: 10-11. - Every day we wake up to live carries a divine purpose, but we can lose it if we neglect to let go and let God. As followers of Christ, we can pray on His armor, experience His fruit and participate in His Kingdom! We are God's family! Christ calls us his friends! The Spirit of God lives in every follower of Christ. We are already enough when we wake up in the morning. We try to be diligent in reminding ourselves! The next generations are looking to witness the love of Christ through us, just as we did before us.

Father, your love for us is fantastic. Only you know the number of our days and the purpose you have for us. You teach us in the most amazing ways, through the most unexpected circumstances. We are developing a coherence of character, an authentic honesty about who and who we are evident to those around us.

Spirit of God, thank you for providing us with the gifts you are continually developing within us. God, protect us with Your armor as we walk every day. Give us the wisdom to discern the whispered lies and manipulative tactics of our enemies and bring our captive thoughts to You, Author of life!

Jesus, our Savior, thank you for the sacrifice you made on the cross for us. By overcoming death, you have made it possible for us to experience forgiveness, grace and mercy. You are dead so that we can live our lives to the fullest and join you in heaven for eternity. It is with this daily perspective that we wish to travel our days on earth, with a hope that cannot be crushed or thwarted. Help us to embrace the peace we have in You, Jesus. Help us to be constantly bold in speaking of You, regardless of the company we are in.

In the name of Jesus,

Amen
