PRAYER TO BABY JESUS (by Sant'Alfonso Maria de 'Liguori)

My Jesus, Son of the Creator of Heaven and Earth, You have a manger as a cradle in a freezing cave, a little straw as a bed and poor clothes to cover you. Angels surround you and praise you, but they do not diminish your poverty.

Dear Jesus, our Redeemer, the poorer you are, the more we love you because you have embraced so much misery to better attract us to your love.

If you had been born in a palace, if you had had a golden cradle, if you had been served by the greatest princes of the earth, you would inspire more respect for men, but less love; instead this cave where you lie, these rough clothes that cover you, the straw on which you rest, the manger that serves as a cradle: oh! All this attracts our hearts to love you!

I will tell you with San Bernardo: "The poorer you become for me, the dearer you are to my soul." Since you reduced yourself like this, you did it to enrich us with your goods, that is, with your grace and your glory.

O Jesus, your poverty has led many Saints to abandon everything: riches, honors, crowns, to live poor with you poor.

O my Savior, also detach me from earthly goods, so that it becomes worthy of your holy love and to possess You, infinite Good.

So I will tell you with Saint Ignatius of Loyola: “Give me your love and I will be rich enough; I am not looking for anything else, you alone are enough for me, my Jesus, my Life, my All! Dear mother, Mary, obtain for me the grace to love Jesus and to be always loved by him ”.

So be it.
