Prayer to be recited when the future is feared

Sometimes a very frequent thought surprises me. A married man with a happy family commented: “Sometimes I think we have to enjoy the present, rejoice in what we have, because surely crosses will come and things will go wrong. It can't always go so well. "

As if there was a share of misfortunes for each. If my quota is not yet full and everything is going well, then it will go badly. It's curious. It is the fear that what I enjoy today will not last forever.

It can happen, it is clear. Something can happen to us. Illness, loss. Yes, everything can come, but what attracts my attention is negative thinking. Better to live today, because tomorrow will be worse.

Father Josef Kentenich said: "Nothing happens by chance, everything comes from the goodness of God. God intervenes in life, but intervenes for love and for his goodness".

The goodness of God's promise, of his plan of love for me. So why are we so afraid of what can happen to us? Because we haven't given up. Because it scares us to abandon ourselves and something bad happens to us. Because the future with its uncertainties baffles us.

One person prayed:

“Dear Jesus, where are you taking me? I'm scared. Fear of losing the security I have, the one I'm so clinging to. It frightens me to lose friendships, lose bonds. It scares me to face new challenges, leaving the pillars to which I have supported myself for a lifetime uncovered. Those pillars that have given me so much peace and quiet. I know that living with fear is part of the journey. Help me, Lord, to trust more ”.

We need to trust more, to abandon ourselves more. Do we believe in God's promise about our life? Do we trust in his love that he always takes care of us?
