What three things should children learn from the Bible?

Humanity has been given the gift of being able to reproduce by having children. The ability to procreate, however, has a purpose far beyond what most people accomplish and has a responsibility to help a child learn important concepts.

In the last book of the Old Testament, Malachi, God responds directly to the priests who serve him on a variety of questions. One issue he faces is the denunciation of the priests that their offerings to him were not accepted. God's response reveals HIS reason for giving humanity the ability to marry and bear children.

You ask why (God) no longer accepts them (the offerings of the priests). It's because he knows you broke your promise to the wife you married when you were young. . . Didn't God make you one body and spirit with her? What was its purpose in this? It was that you should have children who are truly God's people (Malachi 2:14 - 15).

The ultimate purpose of reproduction is to create children who will ultimately be God's spiritual sons and daughters. In a very profound sense, God is reproducing himself through the humans he created! This is why proper training of a child is vital.

The New Testament states that children should be taught to be obedient to parents, that Jesus is man's Messiah and Savior and that he loves them and that they should obey God's commandments and laws. Teaching a child is a responsibility very important, for it places them on a path that can last a lifetime (Proverbs 22: 6).

The first thing a child should learn is to obey their parents.

Children, it is your Christian duty to always obey your parents, because this is what pleases God. (Colossians 3:20)

Remember that there will be difficult times in the last few days. People will be selfish, greedy. . . disobedient to their parents (2 Timothy 3: 1 - 2)

The second thing that children should learn is that Jesus loves them and personally takes care of their well-being.

And after calling a small child to him, Jesus placed him in their midst, and said: 'Truly I say to you, if you do not convert and become like small children, there is no way you can enter the kingdom of heavens. . . . (Matthew 18: 2 - 3, see also verse 6.)

The third and final thing children should learn is what the commandments of God are, which are all good for them. Jesus understood this principle when he was 12 years old by participating in the Jewish Passover feast in Jerusalem with his parents. At the end of the festival he stayed in the temple asking questions instead of leaving with his parents.

On the third day (Mary and Joseph) they found him in the temple (in Jerusalem), sitting down with the Jewish teachers, listening to them and asking questions. (This verse also indicates how children were taught; they were taught by back and forth discussions of God's law with adults.) - (Luke 2:42 - 43, 46).

But as for you (Paul is writing to Timothy, another evangelist and close friend), continue in the things you have learned and been sure of, knowing from whom you learned them; And that as a child you knew the Sacred Writings (the Old Testament). . . (2Timothy 3:14 - 15.)

There are many other places in the Bible that talk about children and what they should learn. For more studies, read what the book of Proverbs says about being a parent.
