When we forget God, things go wrong?

R. Yes, they really do. But it is important to understand what "going wrong" means. Interestingly, if someone forgets God, in the sense that he turns away from God, he could still have a so-called "good life" as defined by the fallen and sinful world. Therefore, an atheist can become very wealthy, be popular and be worldly successful. But if they lack God and get the whole world, things in their life are still pretty bad from the point of view of truth and true happiness.

On the other hand, if your question simply means that you don't actively think of God for a moment or two, but still love him and have faith, then this is a different question. God does not punish us just because we forget to think of Him all day every day.

Let's take a look at that question with some analogies to better answer:

If a fish forgets to live in water, would things be bad for the fish?

If a person forgot to eat, would this cause a problem?

If a car ran out of fuel, would it stop it?

If a plant were put in a cabinet without light, would this damage the plant?

Of course, the answer to all these questions is "Yes". A fish is made for water, man needs food, a car needs fuel to function and a plant needs light to survive. So it is with us and God. We are made to live in the life of God. Therefore, if by "forgetting God" we intend to separate from God, then it is bad and we cannot find true realization in life. If this continues until death, then we lose God and life for eternity.

The bottom line is that without God we lose everything, including life itself. And if God is not in our life, we lose what is most central to who we are. We get lost and fall into a life of sin. So don't forget God!
