What Padre Pio says about the lie, murmuring and blasphemy

The lies

One day, a gentleman said to Padre Pio. "Father, I tell lies when I am in company, just to keep friends happy." And Padre Pio replied: "Eh, do you want to go to hell kidding ?!"

The murmur

The malice of the sin of murmuring consists in destroying the reputation and honor of a brother who instead has the right to enjoy esteem.

One day Padre Pio said to a penitent: “When you murmur about a person it means that you don't love him, you have taken him out of the heart. But know that when you take one from your heart, Jesus also goes away with that brother of yours ”.

Once, invited to bless a house, when he arrived at the entrance to the kitchen he said "Here are the snakes, I won't go in". And to a priest who often went there to eat he said not to go there anymore because they were murmured.

The blasphemy

A man was originally from the Marche and together with a friend of his he left his country with a truck to transport furniture near San Giovanni Rotondo. While making the last climb, before reaching their destination, the truck broke down and stopped. Any attempt to restart it was in vain. At that point the chauffeur lost his temper and in anger swore. The next day the two men went to San Giovanni Rotondo where one of the two had a sister. Through her they managed to confess to Padre Pio. The first entered but Padre Pio did not even make him kneel and chased him away. Then came the turn of the driver who started the interview and said to Padre Pio: "I got angry". But Padre Pio shouted: “Wretched! You blasphemed our Mama! What did Our Lady do to you? " And he chased him away.

The devil is very close to those who blaspheme.

In a hotel in San Giovanni Rotondo you could not rest day or night because there was a demon-possessed girl who was screaming in fright. Mom brought the little girl to church every day with the hope that Padre Pio would free her from the spirit of evil. Here too the racket that occurred was indescribable. One morning after the confession of the women, in passing through the church to return to the convent, Padre Pio found himself in front of the little girl who screamed fearfully, barely held by two or three men. The Saint, tired of all the hustle and bustle, slapped his foot and then slapped his head violently, shouting. "Enough!" The little girl fell to the ground examines. To a doctor present the Father said to take her to San Michele, to the nearby sanctuary of Monte Sant'Angelo. Arrived at their destination, they entered the cave where Saint Michael appeared. The girl revived but there was no way to bring her closer to the altar dedicated to the Angel. But at one point a friar managed to get the girl to touch the altar. The girl as electrocuted fell to the ground. He woke up later as if nothing had happened and gently asked Mama: "Will you buy me an ice cream?"

At that point the group of people returned to San Giovanni Rotondo to inform and thank Padre Pio who said to Mother: "Tell your husband that he no longer cursed, otherwise the devil returns."
