This prayer is recited in the case of despair, discord, disease, etc.

This prayer was composed by Pope Leo XIII (1810-1903), and was included in the Ritual Romanum in 1903, the last year of his pontificate. He composed this prayer on October 13, 1884, after having celebrated Holy Mass in the Vatican chapel. Private exorcism can be recited privately by all the faithful with fruit, alone or in common, in church or outside; always if one is in the grace of God and confessed.
